Position Summary...We are seeking an experienced Actuary to join our Casualty team in supporting Walmart's risk management and insurance programs. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing actuarial analysis and support to help us optimize our risk management strategies and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. As an Actuary, you will play a critical role in helping us achieve these goals by providing data-driven insights and recommendations to inform our risk management strategies.

What you'll do...

Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning

Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and ensuring diversity awareness

Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy

Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events

Manages the alignment of risk management finance strategies with Walmart's global business strategies by staying up-to-date on local, state, federal, and foreign laws, regulations, and best practices regarding financial responsibility and risk control; reviewing initiatives and ventures across business areas to ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and foreign financial responsibility laws; collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to perform cost/benefit analyses and develop risk financing strategies; identifying and analyzing potential financial vulnerabilities and opportunities in business plans; utilizing data insights to develop risk mitigation strategies; and consulting on potential risk exposures and mitigation strategies and presenting them to stakeholders and senior leadership

Manages financial efficiencies by assessing hazardous risk exposures to allocate insurance policy budget for divisions using complex models and valuation methodologies; developing and maintaining insurance policy budget; managing profit and loss budgets, statutory audits and operating procedures for the Walmart captive insurance entity; and managing the annual Walmart insurance program budget allocation and operating procedures

Leads the planning, development, and execution of finance strategies by identifying and measuring insurable risks; managing the development of corporate processes to mitigate insurable losses; managing strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders to manage potential exposure; reviewing and negotiating complex contracts with third-party insurance providers in multiple specialty areas; communicating recommendations to executive leadership; and overseeing the global integration and implementation of risk mitigation policies that help optimize operations

Manages and directs administration of compliance and reporting to various state and federal agencies for qualified self-insurance and monopolistic state fund financing by ensuring that required data are compiled for preparing and filing reports with various agencies; and ensuring that data are compiled and sent for new or renewal self-insured applications

Serves as a liaison between Walmart and various regulatory agencies charged with administering rules, regulations, and statutes by serving as the Walmart representative to various regulatory or governing agencies; and coordinating requirements with Walmart's excess broker/carrier.

What you’ll bring:

Strong knowledge of actuarial principles and techniques, particularly in the area of casualty insurance

Proficiency in statistical analysis software and databases, such as SQL and Excel

Experience with risk modeling and financial analysis, including cost-benefit analysis and scenario planning

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to distill complex concepts into actionable recommendations for non-technical stakeholders

Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to risk management and insurance

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00
