User Experience Researcher

About IBM Cloud Design & Research We are a global team of around 100 designers and researchers, committed to design world class cloud products. Our global team includes all levels of seniority from interns to design executives and is located across the USA, Hungary, the UK, Ireland, Israel, India, and Germany. User Experience Research at IBM User researchers working on IBM Cloud focus on uncovering and defining the user problems our teams need to solve as well as evaluating if proposed solutions solve these problems as intended. Based on a deep understanding of user needs, motivations, and behaviors, user researchers work with designers, product managers, and engineers to ensure that users find our solutions usable, valuable, and compelling. **Your role and responsibilities** As a UX Researcher, you'll be an essential member of a cross-functional team consisting of design, research, product management, and engineering, working together on an IBM Cloud product. You will use your knowledge of research methodologies, design thinking, analysis and synthesis skills, while having a lot of opportunities to learn, build your network, and grow as a researcher. In this role you'll join IBM Studios Budapest, a local team of more than 20 designers and 5 researchers committed to helping each other do great work. Our teams work in a hybrid environment, that is, you will be expected to spend 2-3 days in the office to collaborate with local team mates, learn from each other, and be part of an engaged design community. As a member of the IBM user experience research community, you will join an established and impactful team of user researchers that are responsible for leading and driving user-centered research initiatives. This is a role where you will have the opportunity to demonstrate impact and influence for product roadmaps. Responsibilities include: * Collaborate with designers, developers, and business stakeholders to define and validate business requirements * Create UX research project timelines and plans and be responsible for completing research projects from start to finish * Understand what stakeholders assumptions & expectations are for UX research projects * Design, run and complete research studies to * manage analytics data and improve our tracking of ux metrics (including but not limited to UMUX-lite, OSAT, Amplitude) * create survey templates and best practices for quantitative research * gather feedback on design concepts, prototypes, and other elements of the product you are supporting * collect and understand user needs, validate assumptions, and be part of the design process as the representative of our end user * Identify future improvements via user feedback * Share findings and insights from UX research projects with cross-functional teams * Take part in the user research community, learning from and helping others with continuous feedback in a positive culture where we encourage experimentation, trust, creativity, and fun **Required technical and professional expertise** * Strong verbal, written communication, and storytelling skills in English * Competent user researcher with experience in different research methodologies, understanding benefits and limitations of various research practices, * Experience in quantitative data collection and analysis, the ability to understand, interpret and present data based research studies * Ability to deliver a research project from start to finish on a timely manner with proper stakeholder management * Experience managing projects involving cross-functional teams * Detail oriented and self motivated to work independently on a variety of tasks * Familiarity with technology, understanding how digital technology can change user behavior, and the challenges and opportunities of this evolving industry **Preferred technical and professional experience** * 2-5 years of experience as a user researcher, demonstrating the application of different user research methodologies in a business environment * Experience with agile digital product development * Experience with research tools: collaboration, participant management, data analysis & presentation * Basic understanding of Cloud technology * Familiarity with Design Thinking methods and framework
