User Research Operations Specialist

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented User Research Operations Specialist to support the UX Center of Excellence, a team of hybrid researchers who are responsible for user research and experience product management. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth execution of our user research initiatives and clear communication with our stakeholders. As a User Research Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting logistics and real time operational aspects of research projects, allowing the research team to focus on insights and strategy, as well as thinking forward to establish processes that allow the team to utilize resources in efficient and effective ways.

Responsibilities:

Help manage logistics of recruiting, scheduling, and completing interviews to enable researchers to focus on research

Evaluate new research tools, shepherd any selected tools through the acquisition process

Organize and catalog existing insights and shareout content for internal use, build frameworks/methods to enable consumption of the data by external teams.

Build and maintain a functioning internal site for other teams to understand the UX COE remit and be able to request research

Help organize research requests and coordinate projects for researchers

Explore new methods of recruiting, build out processes that enable the team to utilize a suite of methodologies to conduct research.

Maintain and grow existing internal user database of employees willing to participate in user research studies. Be the point person for communications, logistics, and improvements to the program.

Be the liaison between any HP external customer databases and user researchers.

Collaborate with stakeholders to efficiently manage schedules, participation, and research workstreams

Oversee any on-site research operations, including participant greeting and management

Proactively identify and implement process improvements to optimize research efficiency

Utilize project management tools and software to track research progress and deliverables

Document processes, establish new muscles for design research operations.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred; higher degree in HCI, UX research, cognitive science, or other relevant human disciplines, highly preferred.

Strong understanding of the user research process and methodologies, and ability to communicate the same.  

Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage work in multiple projects simultaneously

Pro-active, with a proven ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.

Self-starter with a can-do attitude, excellent communication and collaboration skills

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with team members, stakeholders, and leadership.

Systems thinker, tech savvy, and picks up new tools, interfaces, systems, processes easily.

Knowledgeable about and adept at communicating cutting edge and emerging technologies

3-5 years experience working in user research or research ops roles

Proven skills with evangelizing and presenting human-centered design methodologies, as well as recruiting participants.

Strong understanding of human-centered design principles and passion for user experiences

Has worked in an agile or iterative work setting

Experience planning and conducting research using various methodologies, as well as analyzing, and communicating user research findings and insights

Design-thinking badge or coaching certification a plus

UX, UI, or writing capability and portfolio to showcase

Have a background in ethnography and/or cognitive science methods (ideal)

Demonstrate servant leadership, empathy, and growth mindset in the workplace to uphold our team values and culture

This is a full-time position requiring a strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

The base pay range for this role is $61,200 to $94,250 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to US candidates only).  Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
