Department Summary:
USSTRATCOM and NC3 (Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications) Operations Department provides a whole range of systems engineering, data analytics, architecture design expertise in supporting development of our nation’s nuclear and electromagnetic spectrum capabilities. We provide a host of enterprise systems engineering and integration activity to tackle U.S. Strategic Command’s top priorities and toughest challenges. Based out of Omaha, NE, in the heart of the midland with a phenomenal quality of life at an affordable cost of living; we are co-located with the Nation’s senior military advisor and their staff, who is responsible for our nation’s strategic deterrence missions to include nuclear operations, nuclear command, control, and communications, joint electromagnetic spectrum operations. Job Responsibilities:
Have deep knowledge of the USSTRATCOM work program and other related projects to enable the group members to grow as a team and provide work program growth opportunities. Developing and executing a strategy for your Group to include: Serving as Direct supervisor (DS) for assigned staff and interns, providing technical support, conducting regular performance and development conversations, staff advocacy and recognition, and communication with Project/Task Leads on performance. Serving as the primary point of contact for new employees onboarding and as a resource to guide staff in navigating the MITRE organization and processes. Partnering with Project/Task Leaders to identify appropriate project opportunities where staff can leverage their current skills and continue to develop new skills. Help shape group and department work programs and capability investments. Work with the Department Leadership to forecast workforce levels and skillset/talent demands then grow the group to fill those needs. Ensure technical quality of the group's work products & deliverables. Serve as a key member of the Department Leadership team in executing its strategy. Represent the department and/or division in ad hoc efforts/events. Coordinate and collaborate with other organizations to identify domain specialists to provide technical mentorship for the staff across various technical skillset areas.Guide your staff in development of impactful professional goals that will challenge them to focus on career progression that has an impact. Work to ensure your staff contribute to and are accountable for sponsor outcomes, and maximize employee potential, motivation, and engagement.Basic Qualifications:
Typically, 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related fields; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCIDemonstrated ability to lead and supervise staff Strong desire to develop staff to address work program needs and challenges Strong verbal and written communications skills and excellent interpersonal skills Desire to develop early career staff and guide them to navigate career options/paths at MITRE This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-sitePreferred Qualifications:
