Clariant is currently looking for a Utilities and Effluent Operator to support the Care Chemicals business unit. This role is responsible for operating and controlling the wastewater treatment plant at the Mt. Holly site. The U&E Operator will ensure compliance with city, state, and regulatory laws and adhere to permit conditions while maintaining operational efficiency. This role requires working in an industrial environment with exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, and hazardous materials. All necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and training will be provided, and compliance with safety protocols is mandatory. This position is a full time, onsite opportunity in Mt. Holly, NC. Responsibilities
• Train on wastewater treatment equipment and utilities to gain full operational knowledge
• Learn various functions and responsibilities within the assigned plant
• Conduct testing and compile reports required for WWTP operations
• Assist production teams in controlling and communicating waste streams effectively
• Operate assigned WWTP equipment and processes in compliance with site permits and regulations
• Adhere to site policies, procedures, and safety guidelines during all operations
• Maintain accurate and detailed operational records
• Read and understand batch sheets, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and material safety data sheets (MSDS)
• Learn and perform proper chemical charging and sampling procedures
• Ensure a safe work environment by following established safety protocols and participating in site safety programs
• Perform housekeeping duties in assigned areas to maintain cleanliness and organization
• Operate a forklift frequently to move raw materials and finished goods as needed
Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in wastewater treatment operations or a related field is a plus
• Forklift operation experience
• Ability to learn and operate wastewater treatment equipment effectively
• Basic computer proficiency for data entry and report compilation
• Strong math skills for accurate chemical dosing and analysis
• Excellent reading comprehension for understanding operational and safety documentation
