Utilities Project Proposal Supervisor

The Utilities Project Proposal Supervisor will be responsible for driving the day-to-day activities of a group of Quotation Engineers dispersed globally and supporting multiple instrument-based monitoring solutions used in the electrical Transmission and Distribution sector. The key objective is to provide the timely delivery of technical proposals to our global sales team and customers, complying with specifications and tender deadlines

The role requires interaction and support of other functional groups including sales, application engineering, operations, purchasing, finance and field services. There is considerable interface with our customers to ensure we meet all technical specifications of that requested by the customer and timely delivery of all hardware and supporting documentation. We have customers in over 60 countries and team members on several continents to ensure responsiveness and support within the time zone. 

You will lead a team of highly dedicated Proposal Engineers and will be responsible on driving customer success including growth and retention of our business at targeted accounts. This team is considered the talent pool for this organization and has high visibility for professional growth.

 

Here’s where you’ll demonstrate your proficiency: 

Managing the day-to-day operations of the quotations team, including assigning tasks, setting priorities, and monitoring progress. Ensuring that quotations are prepared accurately and in accordance with organizational policies and procedures. Developing and implementing strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the quotation process. Managing relationships with clients, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure that quotations are prepared and submitted in a timely and professional manner. Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to the preparation and submission of quotations. Developing and maintaining a database of quotations and related documentation. Providing guidance and support to quotation professionals to ensure that they have the skills and resources necessary to perform their jobs effectively. Reviewing and approving quotations before they are submitted to clients. Negotiating and finalizing contracts based on the approved quotations. Developing and maintaining performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of the quotations team. Providing training and professional development opportunities to quotation professionals. Collaborating with other departments within the organization to ensure that quotations are aligned with overall business objectives. Keeping up to date with industry trends and best practices related to the preparation and submission of quotations. Performing other duties as assigned by senior management. BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field is required. MS degree is preferred.

 

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:   

Ideally  5 years’ experience of completing technical proposals and working as part of a commercial team, ideally with expertise in technical customer service/ commercial operations role. Preference will be given to those with knowledge and experience working or serving the utility Transmission, Distribution or Power Generation industries. Excellent organizational and leadership skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Good understanding of IT and communication protocols, comfortable around instrumentation and using basic programming tools where necessary. Proven track record on how to influence, engage and motivate colleagues and customers to seek out the right solutions Excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders are also essential. Problem solving and advanced troubleshooting skills in technical and process related issues Experience with CRM case management e.g. Salesforce.com and Oracle is preferred. Excellent excel and Microsoft word skills required.
