What You'll Do:

As a Utilities Specialist, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation of partnering with the Operations Technical Leader & Operations Leader by having accountability for the success of the unit to support plant operations. The Utilities Specialist has shared responsibility for managing operations with regards to water/wastewater treatment, waste management, and lab operations.

 

What We're Looking For:

Work with Operations Technical Leader & Operations Leader on day-to-day operations with focus on compliance: Effluent Chemical Pre-Treatment (chemical sludge) Effluent Aeration Basin (activated sludge treatment) Effluent / Boiler Lab Management (equipment, calibration, analysis & chemicals) Effluent & Outfall Permit Compliance (sampling & data management) Waste Management (bio-sludge, chemical sludge, waste organic) Potable Water System Management (system ownership) Process Water System (technical support as needed) Work with Operations Technical Leader to manage strategic unit activities to support plant operations and meet the organizational business objectives, specifically compliance related items. Provide input for daily unit instructions to Operations Leader, including operational guidance and technical troubleshooting as it pertains to: water / wastewater treatment & waste management. Provide coaching & guidance to personnel for safe and environmentally responsible operation of: water / wastewater treatment, waste management and lab operations. Interface, foster plant-wide collaboration and teamwork by leveraging and communicating with other departments/shifts any information that might aid productivity, efficiency, continuous improvements, etc. as it pertains to: water / wastewater treatment & waste management. Interface with EHS partners & 3rd parties (vendors, labs & agencies) during scheduled check-ins, audits and report outs.

 

Skills That Make a Difference:

High School Diploma. 

5+ years of experience in manufacturing / chemical plant / municipal wastewater treatment.  Ability to use Microsoft Office programs to generate reports and perform calculations. Ability to adapt to a changing environment, learn new systems and processes. Ability to effectively lead others and communicate at all levels of the organization. Ability to prioritize work based on situational and business needs. Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve. Ability to coach and develop personnel in the unit.

Considered A Plus:

Potable Water license (if not already in possession, will be required to get once in role) Experience managing lab functions as it relates to water / wastewater treatment Bachelor’s degree – preference for Chemistry, Environmental or other related science degree Previous leadership / supervisor experience Proficiency with SAP, e-Time, PI Historian, DCS Systems
