We have an immediate requirement for a Utilities Support Engineer based in Port Moresby, reporting to the Utilities Engineer.

 

The Utilities Support Engineer is to understand utility plant operation per ISO manual, organize and monitor PM activities as per PM schedules and establish correlation between utility production and end user consumptions apply safety agenda in the shift, while managing the entire process with the aim of reaching the planned quantities and production quality and improving the key performance indicators.  

 

Main Duties will include:

Oversee and maintain Brewery utilities, including Boiler, Steam systems, compressed air, CO₂ recovery, Ammonia refrigeration, Power Generation, Water Treatment, and Wastewater Treatment. Monitor energy and water consumption, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements and sustainability initiatives. Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of utility equipment to minimize downtime and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Assess knowledge of utilities technicians and initiate/roll out training to fill the gaps Establish a method for monitoring utility production versus consumptions Collaborate with the Brewing, Packaging, and Maintenance teams to optimize utility performance and support production demands. Manage contractor relationships for specialized maintenance and system upgrades. Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to extend the life of utility assets. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and local health and safety standards. Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, and system performance data.

 

Qualification & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience). 3+ years of experience in utilities engineering, preferably in a brewery, food & beverage, or manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of steam, refrigeration, HVAC, and wastewater treatment systems. Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) for tracking maintenance activities. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams.
