Job SummaryThis entry level position in our Lancaster office is responsible for reading residential and commercial gas meters and recording readings using handheld computers via walking and mobile routes. Meter readers also interact with customers to gain access to premises and answer questions as required while completing routine meter inspections and performing collections work. Company vehicle is provided.
Duties and Responsibilities Reading residential and commercial meters and recording readings using handheld computers via walking and mobile routes. Complete routing meter inspections. Perform collections work. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, physical and background check. Safe driving history (confirmed by driver’s record check) – recent and/or multiple driving violations may disqualify a candidate from employment. Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license during the course of employment. Must be able to follow all Company safety policies and procedures and protect Company assets. Ability to work effectively with supervision, fellow employees, customers and public. Must be able to complete walking and/or driving routes on a daily basis in all weather conditions. General computer knowledge. Ability to use general hand tools. Previous meter reading experience preferred. Customer service and collections experience helpful. Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent. Valid PA Driver’s License.
