Utility Connection Coordinator

In this role, you'll be responsible for handling day-to-day tasks related to building permit processing, water/sewer capacity fees, and billing rates for both commercial and residential properties. Review and process utility connection applications and -related permits and calculate the required water and/or sewer capacity and connection fees:

Receive, comment, approve, and track utility connection applications and connection-related permits in a utility customer information system and land information management system.Complete required forms, applications, and other documents as needed.Collect and receipt required utility capacity/connection fees.Answer customer/builder/property owner inquiries.Notify customer/builder of fees and other requirements.Coordinate with other departments on permit status, information, and requirements including formulating independent decisions in accordance with applicable ordinances, regulations and unit policies.Processes fire hydrant meter rental program applications.

Customer Service, Code Enforcement, and Loan administration:

Calculate, quote, and receipt water/sewer capacity and connection fees for proposed and existing developments and projects.Process and complete installment payment program applications. Prepare loan documents, get approvals, and record in the official records of the Sarasota County Clerk of the Circuit Court.Answer or refer to water/sewer availability or water/sewer line location inquiries, including written confirmation.Written confirmation of water/sewer availability and fees.  Water and sewer capacity availability letters.Prepare billing adjustments to accounts for misapplied funds.Process customer refunds.Process code enforcement actions.Update code enforcement records.Assist customers in person and on the phone.Maintain customer appointment schedule.Reviews and updates policies and procedures manuals and mandatory utility connection program notifications.Set up recurring charges for the Philippi Creek Septic System Replacement Program.Coordinates low-pressure installation and maintenance agreement processes.Quotes and processes early utility non-ad valorem assessments.

Work Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

About You

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or its equivalent.Two (2) years of experience as a Permitting/Connection Coordinator.​Be a Florida notary public or have the ability to obtain within six (6) months from the date of hire.Valid Florida driver’s license at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a utility customer service office/ high volume phone center and/or building permitting/building plans review experience.

About Everything Else

Starting Pay Range: $21.85 - $22.25, depending on experience
