Job Summary Moves and arranges furniture and appliance, delivers supplies to University buildings, and operates carpet shampooing system. Primary Duties and Responsibilities + Unloads and assembles beds, dressers, closets, and chairs for residence hall rooms. + Unloads new shipments, processes work orders, and moves furniture from one building to another. + Picks-up and delivers supplies to residence halls. + Unloads furniture, fixtures and supply shipments and places in appropriate areas and moves new and broken refrigerators and stoves in and out of residence hall rooms. + Assists in maintaining departmental property in TMA system and assists in annual audits of property assets inventory for State compliance. + Performs additional duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six (6) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Mississippi Driver’s License. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities + Knowledge of University policies and procedures, professional standards and regulations + Knowledge of transporting property techniques and procedures, and the use of transporting materials, tools, and equipment. + Knowledge of asset inventory policies and procedures. + Skill in managing one’s own time. + Utilize dolly, pallet jack, baler, forklift, and University vehicle. Also use of standard hand tools such as hammers, pliers, and screwdrivers. + Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. + Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. + Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. + Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. + Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure and the ability to react and respond quickly and calmly in emergency situations. + Ability to listen to, understand, and follow instructions. + Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public. + Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with moderate supervision. + Basic knowledge and skill of maneuvering within a Microsoft Windows environment and within software applications such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Basic knowledge and skill on Internet browsers such as Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer. Basic knowledge and skill of using email. + Ability to obtain a driver’s license prior to employment. + Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary. Preferred Qualifications One (1) year of work experience in similar or related field of work, familiarity with computer-based programs and familiarity with maintenance work order systems.
