How You Will Make Contributions That Matter
Candidate should have experience with ammonia refrigeration, compressors and boiler systems. Requires strong mechanical knowledge of various components used in cold storage, processing refrigeration systems. This includes performing maintenance and preventative maintenance on all refrigeration systems, rebuilding of compressors, valves, pumps and various other mechanical devices. Operate a two-stage ammonia system and safely operate, maintain and evaluate performance checks of equipment such as evaporative condensers, cooling towers and high horsepower engine room equipment. Ensuring that chemical treatment is applied correctly to cooling towers and boiler room equipment. Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM), RETA (Refrigeration Engineers and Technicians Association), HAZMAT (Hazardous Materials), etc.
Minimum of 5 years field experience operating, maintaining, servicing, commissioning industrial ammonia systems and maintain a working PSM program.Experience with screw compressors, reciprocating compressors, diverse in troubleshooting and repairing of numerous issues with large and small refrigeration systems components and controls.Ability to troubleshoot systems and test components, using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic testing equipmentSafe and efficient operation of high pressure boiler and water treatment systemsTroubleshoot pump recirculating systems and liquid transfer systemsPerform compressor and motor alignmentsMust pass the CAL/OSHA Respirator physicalExpansion installing control valves, motors, pumps and various other mechanical devices.Install wiring to connect components to an electric power sourceTest lines, components, and connections for leaksReplace or repair valves, pumps, motor, gear boxes, bearings, shaft seals, mechanical seals on ammonia pumps and oil pumps.Read electrical schematics to wire and troubleshoot circuitsTroubleshoot 3 phase electrical motors and circuitsTroubleshoot refrigeration control circuitsInstall and troubleshoot motor control circuitsConnect motor leads on large horsepower compressor motorsPerform partial system pump-downsBalance and manually defrost evaporatorsCommissioning/ start up various Industrial equipment and componentsTroubleshoot computerized refrigeration control panels and microprocessorsExperience with many types of refrigerants such as ammonia, and various types of FreonProperly select and install pressure gaugesCalibrate pressure transducers on compressorsCalibrate temperature probes on compressor rooms and evaporatorsTroubleshoot and repair auto purgersPerform preventative maintenance, repairs, and calibration on ammonia sensors and alarm panelsRETA CIRO Certification (a plus)Neat and accurate completion of maintenance records and documentationOther duties as required by management.You Are Best Suited For The Role If You Have The Following Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.Bachelor in a technical discipline (i.e. engineering)3 – 5 years of experience managing refrigeration systems and other utilities systems.Successfully pass a physical and PFTStrong electrical background in addition to mechanical skills. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; hazardous or caustic chemicals and exposure to electrical equipment/systems. The noise level in the work environment is moderate and hearing protection is required in most areas of the facility. Must wear specific PPE.
