Shift: 2nd / 3rd shifts but willing to work any shift

Training: First Shift

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock as a Utility Operator:

The Utility Operator will safely perform a wide range of tasks, including machine setup, helping wet-end operators prep runs/rolls, maintaining a clean and organized workspace. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to working safely, demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, a strong desire to learn manufacturing processes and operating complex machinery and powered equipment.

 

What you need to succeed:


Understand and/or prepare work orders & documentationPerform quality checks; isolate quality issues and report to proper managementMaintain good housekeeping throughout the facility, especially in the work area.Understand and operate all equipment controlsAssist in clear jam-ups and/or removal of scrap / paperAccurately account for rollstock inventory used during the shiftPerform miscellaneous job functions as necessary to aid in production & quality.Ability to clearly communicate with shift(peers, supervisor, management) either in-person or over the radio regarding splices, speed changes, web alignment, warp adjustments, paper/roll placements, paper temps, etc.Ability to stand on your feet for up to 12 hours per day with intermittent breaks during shift.Required to lift 50lbs.Be willing to work ANY shift and willing to work overtime(may be required on occasion)Willing to work in a non-climate-controlled environment(hot/cold)PPE is a requirement for employment. Examples of required PPE are as follows: Safety toed shoes(steel or composite), ear plugs, bump camp, safety glasses, gloves, sleeves, etc.ALL Jewelry is prohibited from being worn in the facility(silicone or otherwise). Hoods/hoodies are prohibited from being worn in the facility.Manufacturing/Operator experience of 1 year is required.Must have basic math and computer skillsAbility to read a tape measure
