How you will contribute
Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Utility Operator position. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will cross-train to operate in many different functions of the production process.
Areas to be cross-trained- Spinner, Paint, Saw, Deco and Material Handling.
Additionally, you will…
Select the proper mold and set up as per production scheduleCheck resin gel times to ensure equipment is function properlyReview shop drawing for accuracy, glass layout is correct, injection gun is set upPlace the required amount and type of fiberglass inside the mold following standard procedures and print requirementsProperly inject appropriate amount of resin per drawing and environmental conditionsWhen pole has gel, knock pole out, inspect for defects and place in buggyRemove mold and place on rack to allow coolingClean and prepare the mold for further molding processes, insuring that all debris have been removedKeep containers containing chemicals labeled and covered at all times in accordance with EPA and fire prevention standardsKeep work area and molding equipment clean, emptying all trash, putting away all tools, etc. in their proper location at the end of the shiftSelect the proper paint according to the print specifications & set up a per production scheduleEnsure that all poles and any parts are wiped and cleaned prior to painting and avoid over sprayClean entire pole with acetone to remove dust and dirt.Properly place the pole prior to paintingSet up machine for wet mil coverage of 3.5 mil’s of paintCheck millage of painted partsPaint the product with even coverage to avoid runsRemove product and place on conveyer for dryingKeep containers containing chemicals labeled and covered at all times in accordance with EPA and fire prevention standardsMaintain paperwork for daily inspection of filtersRegularly inspect parts for quality at prescribed intervals per written and verbal guidelinesDetect and report defective material, improper equipment operation and unusual conditions to supervisorMaintain work area and equipment in a clean, safe and orderly conditionFollow all standard and/or prescribed safety regulationsFollow all standard operating proceduresKeep work area and painting equipment clean, emptying all trash, putting away all tools, etc in their proper location at the end of the shiftSelect the proper shafts & set up as per production ordersCheck and repair surface imperfectionReview shop drawing for accuracy, drill and cut holes to meet customer requirementsClean and prepare the pole surface for further manufacturing processes insuring that all debris has been removedRegularly inspect parts for quality at prescribed intervals per written and verbal guidelines using samples and various measuring instrumentsTroubleshoot and correct various operational and quality problemsKeep containers containing chemicals labeled and covered at all times in accordance with EPA and fire prevention standardsKeep work area and molding equipment clean, emptying all trash, putting away all tools, etc. in their proper location at the end of the shift.Detect and report defective material, improper equipment operation and unusual conditions to supervisorFollow all standard and/or prescribed safety regulationsFollow all standard operating proceduresTrain and assist in development of less experience personnelOther duties as assignedWhat it takes
Required Qualifications
Be proficient with the use of hand toolsBe able to understand order prints and follow production scheduleBasic math skills up to and including the use of fractions, percentagesMust maintain supplies needed on a weekly basisMust be able to lift at least 60+ lbs.Must be able to work in extreme weather conditionsHighly qualified candidates will also possess:
