Utility Operator - Evening

Areas of Responsibility

The Utility Operator will operate various entry level sawmill equipment and be responsible for completing clean-up of regular assigned areas, such as laying sticks, using a walk behind blowers, handheld air compressor blower wand and manual tool such as a broom and shovel to clean-up loose bark, chips and sawdust in the sawmill and planer mill production areas.

Education & Qualification

At least 18 years of age High School Diploma/Equivalent  Manufacturing/warehouse/lumber operations preferred Demonstrated commitment to safety. Excellent attendance record Understand and follow oral or written instructions issued by supervisors Able to perform the job with limited supervision Use Standard Lockout Procedures when appropriate for machine centers. Keep all machines clean of saw dust and other fibers. 

Physical Requirements

Must be able to work and operate in industrial conditions (maybe warm/hot, dust/dirt, noisy, heavy machinery or elevated working surface) with proper safety training. Perform tasks such as walking, climbing, or standing for long periods of time Able to do the following: bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, climbing, stretch with body, arms, and/or legs. Able to lift 50 lbs throughout work shift Able to carry 20 lbs. occasionally throughout a 10–12-hour shift. Maximum distance to carry 8 feet throughout the shift.
