As a Utility/Packer, you will be responsible for blending ingredients, filling bags or containers with product, and ensuring all packaging meets quality and safety standards. You will also use a computer system to track and label products while keeping your work area clean and organized.
Essential Job Functions:Set Up & Pack – Prepare the packing machine with the correct settings and ensure bags, sacks, or boxes are filled and sealed properly.Weigh & Label – Check that all products have the correct weight and label information before stacking.Tote & Super Sack Handling – Assemble, fill, sample, and transport large totes or super sacks, ensuring they meet weight and labeling requirements.Quality & Sampling – Collect product samples, inspect magnets for contamination, and deliver samples to the lab for testing.Cleaning & Maintenance – Clean equipment such as bins, conveyors, packers, and dumpers, and complete required documentation.Computer System Operation – Use the control panel and jet printers to enter the correct product information.Housekeeping & Safety – Follow daily cleaning checklists, keep the work area tidy, and comply with all safety, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and company policies.Bulk Trailer Prep – Assist with cleaning, preparing, and loading bulk trailers for shipment.Other Duties – Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Supervisor or Plant Manager.Education & Experience:High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.1-3 months of related experience in manufacturing, warehouse work, or food/feed production is helpful.Specific Skills:Basic Math – Comfortable adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing, as well as working with fractions, decimals, and percentages.Reading & Writing – Able to read simple instructions, complete basic paperwork, and communicate effectively with team members.Problem-Solving – Ability to follow detailed instructions and troubleshoot minor issues.Physical RequirementsMust be able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.Ability to stand for long periods in a fast-paced environment.Willingness to perform janitorial and general cleaning duties as needed.ADM requires the successful completion of a background check.
