Work Schedule

Tuesday to Friday 12:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., Saturday 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Opportunity for OT, 24/7 operations  

Primary Role

Performs a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of water distribution and wastewater collection system facilities.
 

Key Accountabilities Inspects, operates, maintains, troubleshoots, installs and repairs water distribution and wastewater collection system facilities including but not limited to a) water mains, valves, hydrants and service lines, 2) sewer lines, manholes and service laterals, and 3) pumping and flow control facilities.  Responds to customer service inquiries including service disruptions, service line problems and grinder pump malfunctions. Investigates complaints and determines corrective action per company procedure. Performs new service activity including tap installation and records keeping.  Monitors plant operations (as needed), water distribution and wastewater collection systems and makes adjustments as directed to control their operations.  Operates and maintains plant process equipment as directed.  Completes all necessary forms, sketches, and field notes and uses maps and records. Maintains all necessary records. Maintains tools and work equipment.  Performs maintenance and light construction duties including repairs and/or improvements to physical plant, custodial duties, and related building and grounds activities.  Performs facility mark-out pursuant to Pennsylvania One-Call.  Successful candidate will perform service and operator duties as required. Ability to effectively utilize technology and software platforms. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.  Responsible for flushing hydrants and valve turning program.  Sound for leaks in distribution system. 
  Knowledge/Skills Ability to utilize hand tools and power tools.  Computer literacy.  Ability to manage time and workload efficiently.      Mechanical ability sufficient to understand the operation of pumps, valves, motors and other mechanical equipment related to operations and maintenance. Working knowledge of distribution/collection systems.
  Experience/Education

GED/High School graduate or state recognized education equivalency certificate.
 

Certifications & Licenses PA DOT Certification required.  Valid Driver's license.
  Work Environment Work is in environmental conditions including contact with wastewater, chemicals, fumes, odors and dust as a result of working with handling potentially hazardous wastewater treatment and laboratory chemicals. Exposure to potentially harmful pathogens and gases in raw unprocessed wastewater creating potential for blood borne/airborne disease. Electrical hazard conditions. Exposure to inclement weather mostly of short duration. Position is subject to 24 hour call-out and overtime.
