Under the supervision of the production supervisor, the utility operator will be responsible for manufacturing a variety of liquid chemical and sanitation products. In addition, they will also work as a machine operator supporting the floor scrubbing production process, which will require mixing and spraying of coatings as well as cutting, printing, and packaging the final products. Following written instructions, product specifications, and good manufacturing principals, a utility operator safely formulates, packages, certifies, and loads finished products for customer shipment. A utility operator is a key component of a manufacturing team. He or she will be cross-trained in all areas of manufacturing, ensuring maximum flexibility and productivity in daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Learn and follow all safety policies and proceduresExecute production plan in preparing products for customer shipment.Set up and operate equipment consistent with written instructions and training.Stage and verify raw materials consistent with batch instructions.Operate chemical delivery and mix systems to accurately and efficiently mix liquid chemical batches.Operate spray booth, dryer, and water jet cutting equipment to manufacture abrasive cleaning productsComplete final packaging and labeling of various products.Execute product QC tests and verify product quality to established standards.Safety and efficiently operate forklift for materials movement.Proper and safe cleaning of equipment after use.Will work overtime when requiredRequired Qualifications:
Must be able to read, write, and do simple arithmetic computations.Knowledge of basic chemical agents and their reaction as required.Knowledge of forklift operation.Mechanical aptitude and ability to understand basic operating principles for common chemical manufacturing and coating equipment (e.g. valves, pumps, chemical mixers, conveyors).Ability to perform basic keyboard data entry and interact with computer-based manufacturing control systems.Ability to accurately record production and product quality records.Must be tolerant to routine exposure of small amounts of chemical dusts and fumes.Physically able to climb stairs and ladders as part of routine tasks.Must be able to maneuver drums on a pallet weighing 700 pounds or more from one point to another.Must be able to lift 50-lb bags/pails routinely and handle chemical hoses up to 2” diameter.Responsible for using small hand tools, filling, and packing equipment and simple corrective/preventative maintenance of equipment.Prior chemical mixing/filling experience preferredPrior machine operator experience preferredPrior experience troubleshooting and doing PM on machines is a plusWe understand that candidates will not meet every single desired qualification.
