JOB SUMMARY:

Are you looking for a fantastic career at Aqua? We have a great opportunity for a Utility Technician, under general supervision, performs the day to day duties associated with the repair and upgrade of water distribution systems, customer service issues, and other duties as assigned. Has a working knowledge of required procedures, equipment and operating standards and is able to resolve routine problems. Uses hand tools and some power tools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Performs semi-skilled installation, maintenance and repair of valves, meters, gauges, pumps, and associated equipment used in water distribution systems or wastewater collection systems using hand and power tools.Operates and maintains company truck, hand tools & property in accordance with company procedures, equipment and operating standards.Responsible for inventory and the reconciliation of records with inventory on hand.Operates medium construction equipment under the supervision of a qualified operator.Adheres to all safety and security operating policies, procedures, practices and standards to ensure a safe working environment.Resolves routine problems and notifies management of issues outside scope of responsibility.Reads meters as needed.Updates and maintains documentation of work activities, including closing work orders as needed in the system.Assists with other tasks or projects as assigned  

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GEDNo previous experience is required although mechanical and/or electrical experience is preferred.Valid U.S. driver’s licenseA CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) class A or B with tanker endorsements is a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Will be subject to weather conditions.Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.  Working conditions include travel to work sites of Essential Utilities and/or other constituents.

This position participates in a weekly on-call rotating schedule every 6 weeks. The on-call schedule requires the candidate to be available nights and weekends to adequately staff a 24 hour/7-day operation.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements

Essential Utilities and its subsidiaries, including Aqua, Delta, and Peoples Natural Gas, requires new hires to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, where allowable under the law.  To satisfy this requirement, new hires who received the one shot regimen of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine must receive the one dose shot prior to their first day of employment.  Proof of vaccination must be provided on your first day of employment.  For the two shot regimen of either Pfizer or Moderna, a new hire must have received at least one dose of the vaccine before their first day of employment. Proof of the second dose date must be received within the recommended timeline based on the manufacturer’s vaccine received. For example, for Moderna as soon as the 28 day period has elapsed and for Pfizer as soon as the 21 day period has elapsed.  Failure to provide proof of your COVID-19 vaccination status will result in the termination of your employment with Essential Utilities including its subsidiaries Aqua, Delta and Peoples Natural Gas.

If  you are unable to be fully vaccinated due to a medical or religious exemption, you will be required to apply for an exemption on your first day of  employment with Essential Utilities. As part of the process, you will be required to provide information and/or documentation to Human Resources about the reason(s) you cannot be vaccinated. If your request for an exemption is not approved, then your employment may be terminated.
