Summary The Utility Worker performs routine outage and non-outage tasks as assigned as well as other maintenance support work activities at Palo Verde. Completes all work by complying with company and departmental policies, procedures and guidelines. Minimum Requirements High school diploma/GED. Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications: + Basic knowledge of maintenance, temporary pumps, tools and equipment. + Ability to document all work performed in accordance with applicable procedures. + Basic mechanical skills. Nuclear requirement: + Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member. + Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage. + This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities. + These are conditions of employment at PVNGS. Major Accountabilities 1) Implements stationary Firewatch for system impairments when required. 2) Performs condenser tube leak testing and/or set up contaminated work areas and leak containment devices as assigned. 3) May assist as assigned with breakdown of equipment. 4) May provide inventory and transfer radioactive material including vehicle/forklift operations as needed between units. 5) Performs specialized tasks in support of Unit outages as required which may include: + condenser tube leak detection equipment set-up + tube plugging and tube scrubbing activities + zone III area set-up + hazardous material cleanup activities + operations support + sump inventory control 6) May maintain industrial grounds-keeping activities which entails removal and disposal of trash and surplus materials, and maintaining the Units and yard areas free of obstruction and safety hazards as required. 7) Performs general industrial housekeeping and minor maintenance activities. 8) Enters and retrieves data in station computer systems. 9) Performs other duties as assigned which may include but is not limited to: + spray pond cleaning + domestic service water leaks/repairs in protected area + condenser tube plugging/draining/close out inspection + emergency diesel heat exchanger tube scrubbing + onsite used oil processing + derocking activities on systems in the radiological controlled area where liquids turned to solids + pigeon abatement activities + RCA boundary block wall removals in support of maintenance + temporary sump pump installation/removal when installed plant pumps are degraded + floor drain maintenance/cleaning + sump cleanouts + general protected area housekeeping + cooling tower maintenance including nozzles and adjustments of weir plates + diesel generator surveillance + chemical delivery for operations + ice box stocking + VPP area inspection zone 48 + FME inventory. 10) Attends and passes all required training and qualifications: + power block clearance and tagging + torque wrench + forklift + piping- fittings- auxiliaries (mech qual utilities uses) + heat exchanger + OJT/TPE + first responder hazardous waste/mixed waste + Condenser air in leakage/leak detection + basic print reading + fall protection + material storage inspector + respirator/SCBA + Foreign Material Exclusion + confined space + Hazardous chemical handling + SWMS + surveillance testing + VPP Area Inspections Export Compliance / EEO Statement This position may require access to and/or use of information subject to control under the Department of Energy's Part 810 Regulations (10 CFR Part 810), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) (15 CFR Parts 730 through 774), or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) (22 CFR Chapter I, Subchapter M Part 120) (collectively, 'U.S. Export Control Laws'). Plant/Field Role: This position requires work to be performed in the field and/or at the work site, due to the nature of work. Any PVGS employees may be called upon for random Fitness for Duty (FFD) testing during scheduled working hours. Employees, if off-site, must report to FFD at Palo Verde as soon as reasonably practicable, but no more than 120 minutes after being notified. Employees who are onsite when notified will have no more than 60 minutes to report after being notified.
