We want to know more about the quality of our developer docs and technical communication for our strategic products. A good User Experience Researcher can help us understand the actions we need to take to deliver a compelling product and documentation experience.

As a User Experience Researcher focusing on document quality (UXR), you’ll help your team of content strategists, architects, product managers, and engineers understand how developers work with our content and their documentation needs. You’ll work with stakeholders across functions and levels and have direct impact on strategies for successful product deliveries. You’ll play a critical role in helping create accurate, useful, and accessible content through multiple delivery channels like the web and PDF. You’ll explore user behaviors and motivations by conducting primary research such as field studies, interviews, diary studies, participatory workshops, ethnography, surveys, usability testing, and logs analysis.

At Qualcomm, we are focusing on delivering high quality documentation and user assistance to an increasingly diverse group of developers who work with our technology. For example, Snapdragon technology, Qualcomm Linux, and Qualcomm AI initiatives are growing strategic platforms that need effective and high-quality technical communication.

Responsibilities

Define and measure quantitative UX goals and metrics in collaboration with technical communication managers, Customer Engineers and Program Managers.Develop statistical models and meaningful metrics to understand doc user experience and developer personas.Conduct empirical research using methods from computer science, qualitative social science, econometrics, and other fields to understand user behavior and extract meaningful patterns from large and small data setsExamine existing data and product designs to generate hypotheses and plans for high-impact research.Prioritize and drive research to improve user experience and overall user assistance. Communicate findings to stakeholders in the company. Make research findings convincing and actionable for both research experts and non-experts.

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent research experience).2 years of experience in an applied research for software or hardware developmentExperience in qualitative research, presenting data and drawing recommendations.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or a related field.2 years of experience working with director-level leadership or above.2 years of experience conducting UX with a focus on documentation quality (eg, finding appropriate docs and gauging their effectiveness), and working in a large, matrixed organization.
