JOB DESCRIPTION
Supervise the aggregate of the production and packaging segment of the business. Area of responsibility includes and is not limited to cheese making, sanitation, packaging of finished goods, targets are met in both production and packaging, and repair/maintenance is performed as or when needed. These responsibilities are to be executed with the idea to maximize resources and opportunities while minimizing or avoiding threats to the business.
Responsible for providing supervisory coverage for production and packaging department(s).Oversee the performance of the department(s) while focusing on Cost, Quality, Safety and Employee EnvironmentCommunicate and interact effectively with the department personnel, Plant Manager, all departments, plants, support services and all levels of management to ensure the smooth operation of the processCoordinate and monitor scheduling of personnel to ensure proper staffingSupervise employees to meet performance expectations by providing strong leadership, decision-making and coachingSupport and achieve budget requirements established by the Department, Operations, and Plant ManagerComplete all assigned paperwork, including but not limited to, production/packaging records, Master Cleaning Sanitation Lists, schedules, accident reports and investigations, and any other paperwork deemed necessaryCoordinate and conduct employee training (i.e. job, safety, audit, etc.) and monitor work performanceCoach, counsel and discipline employees in a fair and consistent manner in accordance with the Company’s policies, procedures and work rulesPromote the plant’s safety programs and policies in order to reduce employee accidents and injuries by providing safety training and enforcing safety practices at all timesEnforce the Company’s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and constantly ensure the quality of the productSee Physical Demands for weight requirementsPerform miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary and/or neededWrite and implement SOPs, SSOPs, policies, procedures for the plant and see that they are being followed.JOB REQUIREMENTS
BS in Dairy Science, Food Science, or a related field; one to three years of supervisory experience in a food production environment; or equivalent combination of education and experienceWorking knowledge of computer programs (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SAP etc.)Ability to define programs, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusionsAbility to lead, influence and motivate peopleAbility to understand cost containment and budgetary principlesAbility to effectively communicate verbally and in writingAbility to work flexible hoursAbility to work in a team environment as well as independently with good time management and organizational skillsEQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
