Valet Attendant
Job Summary The Valet Attendant is primarily responsible for transporting guest vehicles in a prompt and courteous manner to and from the parking structure using safe driving practices. The Valet Attendant also provides general front of house and guest services to ensure smooth operations in the parking area, hotel lobby, and breakfast buffet area, including cleaning and trash removal when necessary. Essential Functions: % Time Spent + Valet services: + Promptly answers Valet phone using positive and clear communication. Verbally arranges and confirms parking valet requests from guests and makes appropriate arrangements for bell desk services. + Tickets vehicle, writing guest name, room number, car license, make/model, amount of charge and length of stay on ticket. + Follows established procedures for car control, including but not limited to maintaining neat, accurate logs of keys and completing required valet parking log sheets and reports. + Retrieves information on guest vehicles and claim checks using Valet desk computer system as needed. + Operates vehicle using safe driving practices to ensure safe delivery of vehicle to and from the parking garage and/or other approved parking lot designated by hotel management. 60% + Front of house services: + Assists Door Attendant in opening car doors and unloading/loading of luggage to ensure the smooth flow of traffic in the valet area, issuing claim checks and tagging bags as needed. + Assists with keeping the parking area, hotel lobby, and breakfast buffet areas in clean order, including but not limited to emptying trash cans when needed and bringing to the appropriate location. + Supports other departments during down-time including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, folding towels, and changing light bulbs. 30% + General guest services: + Responds accurately to general inquiries regarding hotel services and attractions. + Provide support during check-in and out process for guests by answering inquiries, providing directions, escorting guests to their destination, and more. 10% Other Duties and Responsibilities: + Maintains cleanliness of the guest vehicle by taking care to return the vehicle as the guest left it. + Ensures the guest vehicle is driven to the appropriate parking garage and/or approved designated parking area and further ensures no guest vehicle is used for personal use without the written consent of the owner and hotel management. + Reports maintenance deficiencies, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries. + Follows Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, and report any defective, damaged or lost PPE including equipment that does not fit properly to management. + Follows all safety procedures and be able to recognize and act in emergency situations. + Ensures uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional. + Maintains a hospitable service atmosphere at all times. Education and Experience: + Valid driver’s license, evidence of insurability, and clean driving record required. + High School Degree or equivalent preferred. + Employment experience in the hospitality industry preferred. + CPR certification and/or First Aid training preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: + Ability to arrive to work on time when scheduled and maintain an alert and attentive demeanor during all shifts. + Ability to read, write, listen, and communicate and effectively in English. + Ability to safely operate vehicles with automatic or standard transmissions. + Strong customer service orientation and ability to communicate with empathy, defuse emotions, problem solve, and make sound decisions to resolve issues. + Sufficient manual dexterity and ability to lift, carry, or otherwise transport luggage. + Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise move or push packages, bags, and luggage on a hand truck, cart, or other wheeled assistance. + Ability to effectively use hotel computer software and record-keeping systems. + Ability to operate in a 7-day per week, 24-hour per day business setting.
