Job Description
As a Validation Crimp Technician, you will be part of a team ensuring the quality and reliability of electrical connections in automotive wiring systems. This role involves performing crimp validation tests to ensure terminals and connectors meet industry standards for durability, conductivity, and mechanical integrity.
ResponsibilitiesConduct crimp validation testing, including terminal crimp cross-section analysis, pull force testing, crimp resistance measurements, and high-current temperature rise assessments.Prepare and execute crimp-related tests using specialized equipment such as diamond wheel cutters, polishing/grinding machines, and push-pull testers.Utilize data acquisition systems to collect and analyze test results, ensuring compliance with industry standards.Operate temperature humidity chambers, thermal shock chambers, power supplies, and other lab instruments.Maintain accurate documentation of test results and manage testing schedules for timely validation.Adhere to lab standards and procedures, including safety protocols and equipment calibration guidelines.Essential SkillsProficiency in test fixture build and tear-down processes.Experience with diamond wheel cutters for precise cross-section analysis.Capability in thermal shock chamber operations for environmental testing.Skill in using temperature humidity chambers for material testing.Hands-on experience with polishing/grinding machines for sample preparation.Strong documentation skills for maintaining accurate test records.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrior experience in automotive wiring harness validation or electrical component testing.Understanding of USCAR21 validation standards and crimp resistance analysis.Experience with push-pull testers, power supplies, and data acquisition systems.Ability to collaborate with internal teams for equipment calibration and process improvements.Willingness to learn and follow directions from the Lead Technician.Good communication skills and a team player mentality.Work Environment
The candidate will work full-time in a test lab, focusing on electrical terminals and their connection quality in automotive wiring systems. This is an open-ended contract position with first shift hours from 7am to 3pm, with some flexibility to start no later than 8am. The role requires a commitment to continuous improvement initiatives and collaboration within a lab environment.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
