Summary of Job Duties:The registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer position requires a high level of knowledge, ability and responsibility in patient care and the performance and preliminary interpretation of non-invasive vascular exams, including but are not limited to, lower and upper extremity venous duplex exams, lower and upper extremity arterial duplex exams and pressure measurements, carotid duplex exams, and visceral duplex exams. Will be required to perform after hour call and will include holidays. Critical thinking and good communication skills are necessary to interact with patients, families, and medical professionals. This position requires an appropriate credential in vascular testing.

Minimum Qualifications:
Registered Vascular Technologist with ARDMS
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Art or Science, or Certificate program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Two (2) years of experience in ultrasound, specifically vascular sonography
Registered Vascular Technologist with the ARDMS or equivalent
CPR, clinical experience in Vascular Sonography preferred

Ability to assist patients onto and off examination tables.
Ability to see and hear to perform duplex examinations.
Ability to perform repetitive tasks with a high degree of manual dexterity and physical flexibility.
Ability to push/pull an ultrasound system weighing at least 365 pounds.
Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.
Ability to perform CPR.
Performs clinical assessment and high quality diagnostic noninvasive vascular examinations in an accurate and timely manner.
Follows the written policies and procedures of the vascular lab, but is capable of deviating from normal techniques when clinically necessary.
Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify and record appropriate anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic images.
Responsible for the safety, mental and physical comfort of the patient while in the sonographer's care.
Demonstrates proper identification of patients asking name and date of birth.
Assures exam ordered is completed, if exam requested is questionable contacts ordering physician to verify order.
Maintains patient privacy.
Maintains clean work area and properly stocked examination room.
Assures that images are stored under correct patient’s name and medical record number.
Preliminary findings must be linked to the order.
