Vascular Surgeon (Open Rank)

Open Rank (Assistant or Associate Professor) of Vascular/Endovascular Surgery

 

The Department of Surgery,  Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine, at University of Texas Health San Antonio is seeking an  Assistant/Associate Professor level for an academic faculty position to join the clinical service and who should have interests in biomedical engineering, translational, educational and/or health services research. Qualified individuals will have completed an approved Vascular Surgery fellowship or residency and must be board-eligible in Vascular Surgery.  Training in endovascular techniques is required and training in wound care with HBO is preferred. The Division is a busy elective group practice that offers comprehensive vascular surgery services to South Texas and is the regional referral center for both adult and pediatric vascular surgery. The practice covers the entire spectrum of vascular medicine, vascular imaging advanced wound care and vascular / endovascular surgery with a strong focus on patient experience and clinical quality outcomes. Faculty operate at the UT Specialty Hospital, at several other health systems within the South Texas Medical Center and provide coverage for the County Hospital Level 1 trauma center.  The practice provides some midlevel support and has access to standard hybrid operating rooms and interventional suites.  Faculty participate in medical student, resident and/or fellow education and training at all locations.

In South Texas, the Division provides advanced aortic care, operates a large limb salvage and dialysis practice, participates in stroke programs, is engaged in emergency and trauma vascular surgery and operates programs of excellence in Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Arteriovenous Malformation, Venous and Lymphatic disease and advanced Wound Care with HBO.  The Division actively collaborates with Joint Base San Antonio in clinical, educational and research endeavors and with University of Texas San Antonio in educational and research arenas.
