Vascular Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (PA or NP) - Maplewood

University of Minnesota Physicians seeks a Physician Assistant (PA) or surgically trained Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join the Vascular Surgery clinical practice at M Health Fairview St. John’s Hospital and the M Health Fairview Vascular Clinic – Maplewood.

This is a tremendous opportunity to practice independently, while being part of a renowned vascular care team - which consists of vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, residents, fellows, nursing staff and registered vascular technologists. The service is looking for a motivated PA/NP who is driven to be a leader in the field, collaborative, and a team player who will cross-cover as needs arise at our other M Health Fairview Vascular Surgery sites.

Responsibilities:

Practice in a combined inpatient and outpatient clinical practice settingsFirst assist in surgery as neededDaily inpatient ward rounds with resident and fellow team, completion of discharge summaries and seeing consultations.Optimization of care plan, algorithm development, and coordination of hospital discharge.Evaluate and treat vascular patients in the hospital in collaboration with staff Vascular SurgeonEvaluate and treat vascular patients in the clinic independentlyRefer patients to the appropriate vascular surgeons within the department and/or other specialists accordinglyExtremity wound care – debridement, dressing, VAC placementEducate patients and families regarding disease process, interventions, and postoperative or post-procedure careActively participate in staff education and administration activities

Practice Site:

St. John’s Hospital and the M Health Fairview Vascular Clinic – Maplewood with possible cross coverage at UMMC or M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital.Travel to Woodbury, Wyoming and Hudson outreach clinics to provide outpatient/clinic care is also a possibility

Schedule: Daytime hours, M-F. No nights or weekends! No call.

Qualifications:

OR assisting experience, or the ability to learn to first assist in the OR, is preferredAn experienced qualified candidate will be a graduate of an accredited Physician's Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program. Have a current MN PA/NP license and be approved by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice or Board of Nursing for prescription writing privilegesBe certified through the NCCPA/ANCCMeet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and PrivilegesHave at least 3 years experience in caring for Vascular Surgery or Surgical patients

The full-time salary range is $120,756 - $145,859 commensurate with practice experience and may also include incentive compensation or additional specialty-specific compensation components. Salary prorated based on FTE.
