Vehicle Dynamics Engineer

The Vehicle Dynamics Engineer is responsible for Vehicle Performance optimization on Advanced Programs. This role supports/leads multiple programs with analysis/optimization of suspension, steering and tires for kinematics and compliance; full vehicle Ride, Handling, Steering and Braking. The Lead Engineer will interact with Advanced Packaging, Chassis, and Powertrain organizations to establish architectural hardpoints of steering and suspension components that are required to deliver the kinematics needed to attain desired vehicular functionality. They will oversee construction of Driving Simulator Models and Proof-of-Concept (POC) test properties to ensure quality and timeliness.  

 

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  

 

Communicate the status of the vehicle dynamics performance to all other program teams Establishing Full Vehicle Targets, based on Ride and Drives, Competitive Vehicle Benchmarking, Customer Feedback and Lessons Learnt Work with Virtual Analysis team to develop virtual simulation plan, review results and determine next steps Use Driving Simulator to Validate & Tune Suspension Architecture before Building Prototype Vehicles Develop Enablers to Meet Functional Objectives and Get program Buy-in

 

Basic Qualifications: 

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace or equivalent) or related degree field 3 or more years of relevant engineering experience Should have experience with Ride and Handling, Kinematic and Compliance

Preferred Qualifications: 

Master's degree in Engineering 5+ years of relevant engineering experience Experience with Steering System or Tires or Suspension Component Design Subjective evaluation for handling experience or racing background EOE / Disability / Veteran
