Vehicle Mechanic

The main role of the Vehicle Mechanic is to carry out repairs and maintenance to the Avis Budget UK fleet of vehicles in order to ensure that repairable vehicles are turned around and ready for rent in the shortest possible time.

Key responsibilities:

Identify, inspect and assess Avis Budget vehicles for repair and maintenance including Transmission, Engine, Braking, Suspension, Engine Management Systems, Auto Electrics and Vehicle Security, Tyres, Trim, General Fitting and Cosmetic Bodywork Repairs.Carry out effective mechanical, electrical and cosmetic body repairs to industry standards and timesDiagnose vehicle issues using standard engineering methods and using electronic diagnostic equipmentCarry out Manufacturer Scheduled servicing on a wide range of vehicle makes and modelsManage repairs and maintenance on Avis Budget systems so that all vehicles are tracked as out of service or back in serviceCollaborates with immediate colleagues and the wider Avis Budget group (including on site third party suppliers) on making sure that best practise is followed and used at all times

Essential experience:

Qualified vehicle technician or bodyshop fitterCity and Guilds and/or Vehicle ManufacturerAccredited Technician Status – IMIQualified MOT TesterLevel 3 (NVQ) Diploma in Automotive EngineeringLevel 3 Diploma in Light/Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair PrinciplesLevel 3 Diploma in Vehicle Technology.Proven experience in repairing vehicles across a wide range of vehicle types and categories with known vehicle manufacturers.

Other requirements:

Full Driving LicenceAbility to work across all days of the week depending on peak supply and demand for rental vehicles and to work on a shift system where appropriate.
