About the PositionIn this role you will assist with cleaning, minor repairs, invasive species removal, coastal restoration, event support and the general upkeep of the beach. Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
Daily general maintenance, minor repairs, cleaning and upkeep of assigned parks, beaches and water access areas associated with the Beaches and Water Access Division.
This includes daily cleaning, deep cleaning, trash removal, litter picking, and other duties associated with daily upkeep and maintenance, within beaches, picnic areas, parking lots, playgrounds and open areas in county parks, restroom facilities, open beaches, and buildings.
Perform limited and semi-skilled trades work including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical and other skilled trades in facility and park structures.
Routine maintenance, inspections, and tasks as assigned.
Assist with diagnosing maintenance issues and completing work.
Set up, take down, and assist with the operations of scheduled programs, events and summer camps, on occasion.
Provide supplemental grounds maintenance including use and care of small equipment such as lawn mowers, weed eaters, edgers, leaf blowers, chainsaws, pressure washers, etc.
Help Environmental Specialists with duties and tasks for resource management projects.
Provide excellent customer service to our guests/patrons, answering questions and concerns in a timely manner.
About the ScheduleWork Hours:
Full-Time, 40 hours per week.
Must be available to work Sunday - Saturday, days assigned will be dependent on business needs.
Typical Hours: 1:30 pm. to 10:00 p.m.
About YouMinimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent education.
One year of experience as a semi-skilled laborer in the care and maintenance of parks, landscapes, or other similar grounds.
Valid Florida Driver's License by date of hire.
Ability to obtain and maintain Herbicide Applicators License, to assist with spraying of exotic invasive species, within six (6) months of hire. (We can help with this!)
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for a period of five (5) years.
Physical Demands: This position must occasionally life and/or move up to 50 lbs.
