Reporting to the Engineering coordinator, you will perform their duties as a member of the Engineering department and collaborate with other departments of the division. You will be responsible for the underground ventilation system, including system design, review, modelling reporting, testing and optimization initiatives. A thorough working knowledge of ventilation modelling software and simulations is a must. You will act as the liaison between the Engineering and Mine Operations departments with regards to all ventilation related activities. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
Work with the Mine planners and project team members to plan for required ventilation demands; ensuring safe underground activities; Review current ventilation design to ensure alignment with LOM production targets, and produce midterm/short term ventilation planning; Compile and verify fan installation data. Consolidate data and produce the various KPI reports and upkeep ventilation register; Maintain the calibration and the upkeep of the VOD system. Preparation of technical reports, which may include topics such as budgetary evaluations, load list estimates, design criteria, concept designs, and emergency simulations; Prepare installation plans and follow up with installation inspections; Ensure regular update of the Ventilation program and provide training to the different group of interest to guarantee compliance; Define air quality instrumentation and monitoring requirements for all underground operations; Perform product trials studies and analysis with suppliers and consultants to optimize LOM products. *

* Mine Technician degree or Bachelor’s degree in Mining/Mechanical Engineering; 3 years of experience in underground hard rock mining; 1 years of experience with mine ventilation (design, modelling, and analysis of simulation in Ventsim) is an asset; Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and mine design/planning software (Deswik an asset); Experience working in a multicultural environment; Excellent interpersonal skills, strong work ethic and positive attitude; Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written).
