Verification & Tool Room Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION:

A Verification & Tool Room Technician is responsible for measuring both supplied and manufactured parts per engineering print using qualified and available instruments, machines, DAQs, tools and software necessary.  

Technician must be able to calibrate, setup, maintain inventory of consumables such as probes, gages, etc., involve in maintaining inspection procedure for test, setup files for software and updating programs, as necessary.

Technician will be in touch with a third-party analysis team and quality engineers for final approval if required and will be responsible for generating a final report along with cleaning, 5S, troubleshoot all necessary equipment used for the test procedure.

He/ She will be ideally involved in continuous improvement of non-destructive testing and will be owning tool room related repair tasks supporting production environment.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

\tVerify part drawing and necessary data is available for examination. \tVerify setup files, instruments, DAQ (Data Acquisition) Systems, probes etc. are available for examination \tVerify pre-approved calibration standards are functioning and available for examination \tEnsure NDT data collection and analysis software are updated and ready to launch\tVerify temperature and humidity control is within range.\tVerify parts are clean. \tPull engineering drawings from PLM system, read part tolerances, and understand limits \tPull engineering specifications from PLM system and understand defect types and variations \tInstall and troubleshoot setup files based on part types and variations \tAdjust setup files and select probes based on materials’ geometric, thermal, magnetic, and electrical properties \tPerform NDT examination and data collection based on an approved inspection procedure \tProvide part data and unit information to approved third-party examination organizations \tProvide NDT data to approved third-party examination organizations for final approval\tGenerate product mapping using software\tGenerate final examination report using advanced software based on performed test \tWork with operations management to understand orders requiring NDT \tRevise NDT programs as necessary (new revisions, corrections, etc.)\tSetup parts on NDT equipment and run programs.\tVerify out-of-tolerance results from NDT using secondary source (calibration standards, calipers, etc.).\tWrite up Non-Conforming Material (NCM) reports, as necessary.\tSend results to applicable parties (engineers, supervisors, etc.) via email.\tExplain/interpret results and/or inspection methodology to interested parties, as necessary.\tPerform basic root cause analysis using available tools and engage with both part supplier and NDT supplier, as necessary.\tWrite new NDT part test programs. \tManipulate CAD files. Request CAD files.\tDaily inspection of all NDT equipment, tools, and consumables. \tMaintain consumables such as probes and calibration standards and ensure enough is available to support upcoming production requirement.\tAssist in the design of NDT fixturing.\tAssist in facilitating NDT equipment repair, as necessary. Call service when necessary.\tUpdate NDT software and engage with supplier, as necessary.\tCarry out repair tasks, supporting production environment \tMaintain tool room/ crib consumables inventory \tAbility to move parts safely using proper safety equipment.\tReceives work instructions from a member of management or a team lead.\tMust be able to follow standard work, complete production and maintenance records and other documentation related to operations.\tMust participate in basic problem solving, 5-S, and lean activities.\tMust demonstrate the ability to perform the above duties with no additional training required.\tMeet and maintain all safety requirements.\tPerform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

\tMust be able to work at heights, enclosed spaces, and drive PIV\tMust be able to climb stairs and ladders\tMust be able to lift and carry up to 30lbs. \tBe able to read and interpret basic blueprints for tolerances (GD&T) and component dimensions \tBe able to perform basic math calculations \tWorking principle and understanding of electromagnetic induction \tExperience with Data Acquisition Systems, Gage systems, Quality Management Systems etc. \tExperience with full Microsoft Office Package

Minimum Requirements     

\tHigh School Diploma/GED or higher.\tWilling to travel for a mandatory min. 5 weeks training.\tWilling to travel and participate for advanced training/ customer requirement as needed. \tAbility to demonstrate basic electrical, mechanical knowledge or skills.     \tAbility to demonstrate basic math skills, computer knowledge and GD&T.

Preferred Requirements     

\t2-year associate degree in electrical/ mechanical/ mechatronics/ NDT or equivalent through apprenticeship program.

POSTING QUALIFICATIONS:

\tPreferred associates degree in NDT, quality, mechanical design, or manufacturing engineering or equivalent through apprenticeship program.\tComputer skills. Must be willing to learn multiple software programs such as but not limited NDT data collection and examination software, Apriso or similar MES, PLM, ETQ or similar NCMS, Microsoft Office Package, Microscope etc.  \tUp to 75% of work time using computer. \tAbility to go to on or off-site training to learn software, theory and other applications, which may include up to 5+ week-long training sessions.\tAbility and desire to earn ASNT or equivalent certifications. \tMust be detail oriented. \tDemonstrate ability to print read and GD&T. \tDemonstrate reliability.\tCompletion of company approved proficiency test prior to employment.\tMust be able to perform basic math calculations.

Pay and Benefits: 

Starting pay $28.49 - $31.24 plus increases every year!
