Job Seekers, Please send resumes to resumes@hireitpeople.com Major Accountabilities:Design, implement and maintain/tune physical database structures and associated hardware, network and system configurations.Setup backup/restore and disaster recovery procedures; execute as neededDesign and administer database security strategiesImprove and promote operational scalability and standardization.Manage SLA (service level agreement) for database environments (availability, latency, recovery etc.)Monitor and tune databases for efficiency and help drive improvements.Create tools and processes to automate administration and monitoring.Drive data migration efforts as needed across environments/upgrades.Lead problem identification and resolution through analysis and research.Collaborate and consult with application development teams to determine database/system platform selection, efficient database design, and access.Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of experience on Vertica database (developer/architect/DBA)Expertise in Vertica Physical and Logical Architecture.Excellent query writing skills and debugging problematic queries.Deep Understanding of Data Concepts (ETL, data structures, and metadata)Understanding of Linux OS Commands, tracing and performance tools.Working knowledge of integration with Kafka, Spark, Hadoop, NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra etc) and any automation/configuration tool experience.Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering is a minimum.Excellent writing and communication skills to interact with other teamsVery strong sense of responsibility and commitment.Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Experience in AWS cloud servicesAuthorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the futurePreferred Qualifications:Experience in AWS Cloud infrastructure services is preferredAdvanced degree and certifications preferredExperience in the insurance and financial industries a strong plus.
