Senior System Design Engineer – Powertrain System & Components (PE-S&C)
The Powertrain System & Components (PE-S&C) team within Powertrain Engineering Bangalore is responsible for delivering Powertrain Electronic Systems and Components for the Truck & Bus brands within the Volvo Group Trucks Technology.
We are seeking a highly motivated & skilled System Design lead with overview of internal combustion engines (IC Engines), liquefied natural gas (LNG) engines, fuel cell technology (FCEV), and hydrogen internal combustion engines (H2 ICE). This role will be responsible for the design, development, and optimization of powertrain systems for both conventional and alternate fuel technologies. This role involves collaborating with our global counterpart across multiple sites like Lyon, Gothenburg, Hagerstown, etc.
Job Summary
The Senior System Design Engineer with mechatronics competency works within the Powertrain System & Components (PE-S&C) group, responsible for designing and developing the Powertrain Engineering Electrical and Electronics (PE E&E) Control systems, Architecture, Functions, and technical roadmaps for the team as per AGILE methodology. Will be responsible for Functional Safety ISO26262, Cyber Security ISO21434, and ASPICE ISO15504 implementation of Powertrain E&E system. Mentoring and coaching the team members of the emerging technologies and best practices for Powertrain Engineering Electrical and Electronics (PE-E&E) System development through on the job training.
Responsibilities
System Lead responsible for complete E&E deliveries towards any project or product with good Quality, Delivery, Cost and Feature (QDCF) as per targets defined and ensuring robust and fully functioning Powertrain Engineering Electrical and Electronics System (PE-E&E) on the vehicle. Design and develop Hardware (HW) and Software (SW) requirement specifications, translating customer requirements to technical descriptions with in-depth “technical” impact analysis at sub-system. Experience and open to learning on the job, development of system modules in MATLAB, Python, etc for system engineering and automation. Good understanding of the SW & HW roadmaps for powertrain Electronics Control Unit, Vehicle Architecture, CAN ,Engine & Driveline Components like Starter ,Alternator, Sensors & Actuators , troubleshooting and diagnostics . Responsible for learning , deploying and coaching the team on concepts of Functional Safety ISO26262, Cyber Security ISO21434, DFMEA, HARA,TARA,FTA,RCA . Ensures all the cross-functional requirements are well incorporated into the design from the aftermarket, manufacturing, purchasing, and also other Powertrain product streams (base engine, Combustion, Exhaust After Treatment System (EATS), Certification needs, Verification, and Validation needs.Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
BE/BTech/ME/MTech in Electrical/Electronics and Communication Engineering. Demonstrate strong ability to learn on the job and deploy. Leadership skills, delegation, mentoring and motivating the team. Knowledge in the areas of Commercial Vehicle applications, Software, System Design, Diagnostics, are desirable. Customer quality mindset and competence to guide the cross-functional team. Good communication and problem-solving skills.Reports to Group Manager PE-S&C(Powertrain Engineering-System & Components) in Bangalore
