VCA Charles Towne Animal Hospital is hiring an experienced and motivated Veterinary Assistant Supervisor to lead our patient care team!  

About Us

We are an AAHA-accredited 2-doctor practice in Charleston, SC, offering a variety of services including Primary Care, Surgery, and Dentistry.  We are located in the West Ashley area of Charleston, close to great restaurants, shopping, and the Greenway trail. 

Our hours are Monday through Friday 8am- 6pm, Saturdays 8am - 3pm, closed Sundays.

About the Role

As an Assistant Supervisor, you will put your skills and experience to great use. This is a working supervisory position, responsible for the leadership and development of the patient care team.  You will have the support of the hospital and field leadership team in this role.

Technical duties will include:

Compassionate patient careClient education and careVenipuncture and catheter placementRadiology and diagnosticsLab sample collection and processingSurgical preparation and assistingAnesthesia monitoringDentistryMedication preparation and administrationSafe and effective patient handling and restraintMedical recordkeeping

Supervisory duties will include:

Providing leadership, training and support to our patient care teamProviding mentorship and trainingScheduling staff and conducting team meetingsKeeping the patient care team current on policies and proceduresAccurately handling and recording controlled drugsAssist with inventory, equipment and facility maintenanceAssist with marketing and events

Ideal Qualifications

One or more years of leadership/management experience as a Veterinary TechnicianSouth Carolina Veterinary Technician License (LVT) or eligible preferredStrong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills in working with your colleagues and pet parentsComfortable with mentoring and training othersStrong technical skills with desire to continue to improveAble to work well independently as well as part of a teamFlexible with work schedule  Proven ability to keep accurate patient recordsMotivated, enthusiastic self-starter with a professional and positive outlook
