Veterinary Physiotherapist

We are looking for a part time Veterinary Physiotherapist to work 20 hours a week in a busy referral practise in Swindon, Wiltshire. This role includes treating inpatients (both post-surgical cases and those being treated conservatively) alongside treating outpatients. Hours will be 10h per day Wednesday and Thursday. Flexibility to be spread over 3 days if needed.

The successful candidate should be a minimum of level 6, and should ideally have experience working within a referral hospital environment.

Ideally registered with RAMP, but this is not essential.

Eastcott Veterinary Hospital are a multidisciplinary Veterinary referrals practice based at an RCVS accredited Veterinary hospital in Swindon, Wiltshire. Our referral team is led by a team of Veterinary specialists, who also work alongside a team of primary care Veterinary surgeons. We provide an exceptionally high level of clinical and surgical care to clients and their pets, as well as referring vets and professionals. Our referral center is highly equipped, and our team offers a warm and professional welcome to all.

All Veterinary Physiotherapists are expected to provide a consistently high quality and professional service for referring veterinary surgeons, clients and their animals. You will be fully supported in continually developing your skills within this role.

Scope of role

You will be expected to work closely with the directors, clinical colleagues, veterinary physiotherapists, nurses, reception staff and other support staff within the practice to provide the highest standards of professional care and service for our clients and their animals.

Key responsibilities

Provision of clinical and professional veterinary physiotherapy services for referred clients- both inpatients and outpatientsParticipation in delivering veterinary physiotherapy based learning to Eastcott colleagues and both internal and external CPD eventsCompletion of CPD requirements in accordance with the current recommendations of your governing body, dependent upon personal and practice CPD needs.

Key skills

Qualified in Veterinary Physiotherapy to degree level (minimum level 6).Experience working as a qualified veterinary physiotherapist- either self-employed, employed work within a veterinary practice or at a hydrotherapy/rehabilitation centre.Ideally has experience working within a busy referral veterinary hospital.Ideally has had some experience performing veterinary physiotherapy with cats.A professional approach and appearance are expected.Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive friendly attitude are essential for effective teamwork within the practice, together with the ability to make decisions and communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues at all levels.A commitment to practicing the highest standard of veterinary care.

Key clinical and administrative tasks

Be available during working hours to provide physiotherapy treatment for both referred clients and in-patients under his/her care.Be willing to take on new cases or provide advice to both internal and external Veterinary surgeons about clients within their care.Attend and provide CPD and training opportunities (in agreement with management) for internal and external staff, professionals and ownersRead, understand and implement the practice’s current clinical, operational and commercial policies.Maintain the highest standards of professional behaviour in accordance with the practiceDevelop a good rapport with clients and determine their needs and wishes; perform veterinary physiotherapy in a way that will deliver the highest quality of care whilst minimizing patient stress and discomfort; recommend referral back to the referring Veterinary Surgeon where neededExplain physical palpation findings and communicate this effectively to the client; generate and present a treatment plan for the pet to the client; educate the client on the best course of action including follow up consultations.Maintain excellent treatment records and make certain all necessary information is kept up to date through established protocols; assist colleagues in follow up and future management of the patient.Establish a good rapport with referring Veterinary surgeons including timely professional and respectful communication with an emphasis on reporting communications with the client; ongoing development of a positive and professional working relationship; participation in Continuing Professional Development involving the local referral community.Assist in the development and training of the paraprofessional team and veterinary residents/interns to ensure the delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service.Assist with marketing the practice's services through various external and internal activities.
