Job Summary: The Cardiology Technician serves as the primary technician to the Cardiologist(s). They work to assist the Cardiologist in their daily duties and carry out their treatment/diagnostic plans. Compassion, patience, professionalism, and kindness to all clients, whether in person or on the phone, is a must.
Position Responsibilities:
Appointment intake and patient history
Document histories, treatments, and diagnostics into veterinary software (EzyVet)
Must become proficient in EzyVet and SmartFlow within 30 days
Handling department voicemail, client callbacks, and documentation
Assisting with all exams, treatments, diagnostics, and surgery (echocardiography, cardiology studies, patient exams, and scrubbing in assisting with invasive procedures etc.)
Preparing for the perioperative period and implementing a patient care plan as part of an interdisciplinary team
Reviewing estimates with clients and providing education about procedures
Filling patient medication
Keeping exam rooms clean in-between patients
Re-stock and maintain the department and surgical suite for procedures
Qualifications:
Must have LVMT CVT, LVT, or RVT licensure and at least 1+ years of veterinary hospital experience
Have a reasonably in-depth understanding of veterinary medicine and basic disease processes
Have broad technical abilities (Phlebotomy, catheterization, patient restraint, radiographs, in-house lab, pharmacology, medication/fluid/oxygen administration, fluoroscopy, etc.)
Required Technician Skills:
Phlebotomy and catheterization skills
Patient restraint and handling skills
Anesthesia trained
Patient radiograph skills- positioning and technique
Understanding of medical terminology
Pharmacology and medication administration skills
Doctor assistant/ anticipation skills – echocardiography, cardiology diagnostics and studies, patient exams, etc.
Knowledge of ECG and equipment associated with cardiology
Performance Requirements:
Flexibility to work beyond scheduled hours if necessary
Required to participate in weekend anesthesia on-call and specialty weekend sign up
Must be able to multi-task and complete assigned tasks
Must be able to work in a busy, fast-paced environment
