Veterinary Technician - Aquamation

**BluePearl Pet Hospital in Houston, TX is looking for an** **Aquamation** **Technician to join our team!**
The Aquamation Technician, reporting to the Aquamation supervisor, is responsible for performing the Aquamation process in a safe, efficient and respectful manner. The technician work activities include; daily operations related to the process of aquamation; deceased pet pickup and transport, operation of the alkaline hydrolysis machine, creation of pet memorial keepsakes, proper delivery of packaged aquamated remains. Cleaning and maintenance of the aquamation facility, company vehicle. The Aquamation technician works closely with our BluePearl Hospice Team.

_**Position will start at Spring, TX location to pick up company vehicle and will drive to Houston, TX facility. Candidate interested in this position should be comfortable with picking up deceased pets from owners & collecting memorabilia. Candidate should also be able to work in a facility with strong odors due to decomposition. Position is not involved in working with or providing medical care to live animals_ .
**Work Schedule:** Full-time; every other weekend availability
**Pay Range Starting:** $18.35/hour & Up
*This pay band is dependent on experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.
**ESSENTIAL** **DUTIES & RESPONSABILITIES**
+ Maintain professional appearance and friendly demeanor at work
+ Operate and maintain aquamation machines and related equipment ensuring they function properly and safely.
+ Handle deceased pets with respect and care while ensuring daily Aquamation goals and process timesare reached.
+ Perform daily routine operations with great attention to detail; check documentation, create memorials/keepsakes like clay prints, ink prints, fur clippings, engraving name plate, assembling of remains for quality control, etc.
+ Maintain and update chemical track loads andaquamation pet logs.
+ Perform cleaning and housekeeping activities such as sweeping, moping, vacuuming, dusting, laundry and vehicle cleaning care.
+ Maintain the company vehicle clean and ready for pick-ups andinform the supervisor of any mechanical issues.
+ Pick up from home and/or assist BluePearl Pet Hospice team with deceased pet transportation to the facility for aftercare service.
+ Other duties as assigned

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
+ Ability to lift 50+lbs multiple times a day.
+ Regular handling of deceased pets.
+ Ability to stand or sit at a workstation for long periods of time.
+ Ability to drive for long periods of time.
+ Regularly bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, sitting, repetitive motion, hand/wrist/finger motion
+ Ability to work independently.
+ Occasionally exposed to airborne particles from patients and chemicals related to animal care equipment
+ Travel required to pick up deceased pets
+ The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate
**EDUCATION, TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS**
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Valid driver license and ability to drive for long periods.
+ Additional training or certification in veterinary technology, mortuary science, funeral service or related field is preferred.
