Unlicensed Nurse - $2,500
Licensed CVT/LVT - $5,000
Licensed VTS - $7,500
Schedule:
Flexible days/ hours

Compensation is based on experience and skill level. Starting at $25/ hour for Credentialed Technicians. Credentialed Technicians with experience $28- 32/hr.

Position Overview:
The purpose of the position is to provide primary support to the Specialist with diagnostics, treatments, and procedures, while ensuring the best quality of care possible for our patients. The Veterinary Nurse must pay attention to detail and maintain very high standards of cleanliness and care. They must be able to communicate well with doctors and coworkers to ensure overall accuracy and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
To provide support to the Specialist with incoming consultations and procedures, including but not limited to: Practice “Fear Free” standards and protocolsUnderstand the organization and operations of the departmentAbility to manage the daily OR schedule timely and efficientlyEnsuring the safety and set-up of each induction station and OR scheduled for the dayCompleting pre-operative testing required for anesthesia (blood draws, radiographs, etc)Preparing drugs, fluids, and CRIs for the next surgeryPre-medicating patients, setting IVC, and preparing patients for induction Having the knowledge and ability to identify normal vs abnormal vitals and communicating concernsDocumenting vitals, recording problems and interventions, ensuring completion of anesthetic protocolsKnowledge of proper surgical scrubbing, gowning, and gloving to assist surgeon in ORInstrument and equipment care: cleaning, maintenance, packing, and sterilizationComplete post-operative diagnostics and other ordersRecover each patient smoothly with the ability to intervene if delirium, dysphoria, and/or pain is displayedAbility to properly assess pain, assign pain score, and treat pain if presentAbility to communicate effectively and put both clients and patients at easeEnsuring the doctors stay on time, and have ability to gently and tactfully move things alongAssist doctors with restraint/handling, suture removals, and medication refillsKnowledge and understanding of chemo safety and administration in accordance with hospital safety protocolsCompleting discharges to according to Specialist’s preferencesProvide basic client education on nutrition, home care, zoonotic diseases, medication administration, post-operative care, and all other hospital recommendations/protocols, as directed by the Specialist.Re-stock and maintain cleanliness of specialty department area, exam rooms, and all other areas of hospitalTrain less experienced staff members on proper policies, procedures, technical skills, and medical informationCross- train to assist in other areas of the hospital as needed 
Experience & Job Requirements:Minimum of 2 year's experienceAbility to perform all key responsibilities of Technician AssistantKnowledge of safety procedures and acceptable sanitation/sterilization practicesComprehension of commonly used medical terminology and equipmentAbility to calculate accurate dosages and injectionsFamiliarity with CPR and rescue breathingAbility to take direction from a variety of people under various situations and accurately follow instructionsCapability of anticipating needs of Doctors and Nurses and show initiativeAbility to react quickly and appropriately during emergency situations, and remain calm under pressureExcellent communication/people skillsGood grooming and hygieneMust have team-oriented attitude and promote positive culture Considerable tact and diplomacy in dealing with clients affected by a variety of problemsAbility to work with and without direct supervisionEducation RequirementsHigh school diploma or GEDBachelors and/or Technician Certification preferred
