Position Summary Colorado State University is offering the opportunity to create your own tailor-made Veterinary Theriogenology position! Are you enjoying your private practice but would like to be involved in team collaboration, advanced diagnostics and teaching in an academic environment? CSU and the Veterinary Teaching Hospital is offering the freedom and flexibility to choose elements of private practice and academia and work schedule! The clinical appointment will be in the Theriogenology Service at the Colorado State University Equine Reproduction Laboratory. The CSU Equine Theriogenology service within the Veterinary Health System is a busy clinical service seeing approximately 3,000 cases a year that includes normal and problem mares, stallions and foals. The successful candidate will participate in the clinical and some didactic instructional activities of the professional veterinary medicine and post-graduate training programs related to theriogenology as well as provide service to the Equine Reproduction Laboratory and referral cases at the Johnson Family Veterinary Hospital ( JFEH ). This position will be responsible for clinical service that involves providing clinical care of patients, teaching veterinary medical students, training theriogenology residents and interns, and consultation with referring veterinarians and horse owners. The successful candidate should have a strong interest in mare breeding management, as well as stallion, and assisted reproductive technologies in horses. The successful candidate should also have experience diagnosing and treating equine reproductive conditions. Clinical duties will consist of supervision of inpatient and outpatient equids presented to the Equine Reproduction Service. The successful candidate will maintain an 80% clinical appointment and have access to state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging resources as well as world renowned experts in embryology, andrology, internal medicine, and surgery, among others. Daily duties will include management of client-owned broodmares for reproductive procedures, assistance with stallion evaluations and semen collections as needed, managing late term pregnancies and neonatal care in addition to assisted reproductive techniques. The remaining 20% of the appointment will focus on education and mentorship through the oversight of three motivated and talented theriogenology house officers, breeding farm interns, and veterinary students. The Equine Reproduction Service has dedicated technicians and client liaison coordinators that provide a well-organized daily clinical schedule for the team. Participation in weekly resident rounds and daily case rounds will be encouraged. The successful candidate will work closely with, and have the support of, other theriogenology faculty. This position is flexible, anywhere from a 6-month, 9-month, to 12-month assignment.
