Vice President, Architect for GM Technology

Who we are looking for

State Street Global Markets Technology (GMT) is looking for a hands-on technology leader/architect to build a cross-business, agency lending platform from the ground up. The development of this low latency platform will employ cutting edge technologies to ensure reliability, scalability and extensibility.
 

The Global Markets Technology (GMT) organization is a large, global group that oversees technology strategy and platforms that support the end-to-end needs of various business within State Street Global Markets (SSGM) such as FX Sales and Trading, Securities Finance, Secured Funding, Collateral Optimization, Global Credit Finance.

The Senior Lead and Architect will serve as a securities finance and lending technical SME across multiple middle office initiatives and will be responsible to analyze data, contribute in system design and write code to develop and deploy cloud compatible software applications to support Agency Lending business unit.

What you will be responsible for

As Technology Lead/Architect you will

• Influence the architecture and technical design of the cross asset Front Office and Back Office Agency Lending platform.
• Participate in the definition of the technical stack to ensure a balanced blend of cutting edge and traditional technologies
• Design and develop the core common framework and associated foundational components
• Provide technical subject matter expertise in reviewing and debugging complex technical issues.
• Promote an agile model of development and support. Deliver high quality technical solutions for loosely defined, ever evolving requirements under extremely compressed time frames.
• Participate in periodic code reviews with focus on functional integrity as well as extensibility and scalability
• Collaborate with other developers, business analysts, front office risk and analytics teams to craft elegant solutions to front office trading requirements.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and work with senior managers/technical leads to drive the adoption of applicable ones within the group

Education & Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Math or associated areas
• 18+ years of experience in a large financial services organization including 12+ years of experience in a Leadership or Architect role.
• Proven track record in building scalable, mission critical IT platforms for the financial services industry.
• Expert level proficiency in Object Oriented (OO) programming, design patterns and related paradigms.
• Experienced, highly skilled in the following technologies - Core Java, Tomcat, Springboot, REST API, Web ServicesReactJS, SQL, Oracle/Exadata, Kafka, MQ , Linux, Git. End to end understanding of software architecture, design, development and implementation. Good understanding of cloud concepts and CI/CD deployment procedures.

• Expertise in building low latency applications using caching products such as Oracle Coherence/Apache Ignite
• Experience with React, HTML5 is preferred.

• Experience with functional programming languages such as Scala is desired.
• Familiarity with BigData technologies (Hadoop Ecosystem, Spark) and Machine Learning toolkits is desired.
• Complete knowledge of the software development lifecycle for iterative, agile, and traditional approaches
• Exceptional collaboration and communication skills
• Ability to successfully influence in a complex organizational with multiple, competing stakeholders
• Demonstrate the ‘Risk Excellence’ culture in your behavior

Salary Range:

$110,000 - $185,000 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
