Vice President, Content Strategy and Insights

Job Summary

What is the opportunity?

The Vice President will be responsible for leading the development of impactful thought leadership programs and content marketing strategies that support the capital markets business globally. This role is a critical part of the Client and Marketing Strategy team and provides a unique opportunity to partner with business leaders in support of RBC Capital Markets’ growth goals, deliver insights to clients that drive competitive differentiation and gain a deeper knowledge of the themes and trends impacting global economies, markets and industries.

This position will be highly focused on content strategy, planning, development and execution to support business objectives, drive client engagement and articulate the RBC story. The Vice President will report to the Global Head of Content Strategy and Insights and partner closely on business engagement and management of all strategic and operational aspects of the global team. The Vice President will play a central role in content origination and coordination across omni-channel campaigns, including digital and traditional touchpoints, and will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize the digital experience to ensure it supports the client journey strategy.

The successful candidate will work closely with Corporate Communications, members of the Client and Marketing Strategy Group across regions, and most importantly with business leaders globally, to develop and execute marketing strategies that help position the business for success.

Job Description

What will you do?

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Work closely with the Global Head of Content Strategy and Insights and members of the Client and Marketing Strategy team (Brand, Business Marketing, Conference and Events) to create strategic thought leadership programs and campaigns to support business goals, promote our expertise/capabilities and engage capital markets’ clients globally.Lead engagement and collaboration efforts with business partners across Global Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, Global Markets, Sustainable Finance, Research and more on priority projects and initiatives, as well as targeted client marketing initiatives.Drive and oversee content marketing strategy, planning, development and execution with members of the Content Strategy and Insights team.Manage editorial resources, including agency partners and studio capabilities, to create and deliver exceptional content and digital experiences for clients.Partner with Digital and Social Media team to drive editorial/messaging strategy for paid media, develop digital strategies and execute email nurture campaigns that drive engagement with priority capital markets’ client segments.Coordinate with the Conference & Events team to drive activation strategies and manage content initiatives for RBC proprietary conferences, industry sponsorships and other key business initiatives.Engage regularly with the corporate communications team to ensure alignment on priorities and messaging, partner on major brand initiatives and explore strategic PR opportunities.Develop a strong understanding of client consumption behaviors and what makes content more engaging and shareable with target audiences.Learn to monitor and interpret key metrics for content marketing campaigns and help identify ways to optimize performance.   

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

BA in Marketing, Communications and/or Business-related degree10+ years of work experience in B2B Financial Services Marketing or Management Consulting; prior experience with Capital Markets, Asset Management or Institutional Investor firms preferred.Strategic mindset, problem solver with client-focused approach; ability to think creatively and tactically to drive business outcomes; continuous desire to improve, learn, add value.Excellent writing and presentation skills, with an ability to generate new ideas and turn them into compelling thought leadership.Strong relationship management, project management and interpersonal skills; ability to work well within and across a team with experience driving results and consensus across a large number of stakeholders.Navigate effectively ambiguous situations and be resourceful and solutions oriented.Highly organized and entrepreneurial, ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced corporate environment while maintaining a high attention to detail.Analyze and synthesize data to deliver meaningful insights to drive business decision-making.

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $125,000 - $145,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.  This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
