Purpose
The Credit Management (CM) function centralizes core credit management and risk leadership, essential for effective credit risk management and escalation. It supports GCIB Coverage and work with Sector Coverage, AIBD functions, as well as relevant APAC teams for efficient task allocation. The role is accountable and responsible for the credit process in Hong Kong, supporting origination efforts and ongoing monitoring with internal team support. Key functions include end-to-end credit preparation, in-country/sector Watch processes, emerging risk analysis, credit cost management, and RWA fixes. CM supports GCIB APAC's objectives by ensuring high-quality credit analysis and monitoring post-origination, assessing borrowers' financial performance, and identifying emerging risks. CM also collaborates with MUFG MGS to enhance credit process partnerships and improve quality and efficiency across GCIB APAC, aligning MGS activities with regional processes.
Job Responsibilities
Support the ongoing growth and portfolio management of customers in Hong Kong, proactively identify emerging risks and opportunities to drive better risk and return outcomes for the Bank.
Support portfolio construction to onboard the right clients and sectors, providing insights for revenue and profit generation, balance sheet optimization, and loss limitation.
Share insights from the broader sector, contribute to local business growth, and act as second-in-command to the Director.
Drive credit and customer outcomes for a positive financial impact.
Assist the Coverage team with screening, credit analysis, and document execution for origination and existing client transactions.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the region, including Portfolio and Coverage team members, credit offices, etc.
Guide and mentor junior team members, participate in and lead training and team meetings.
Ensure high-quality submissions, lead origination and refinancing activities, undertake project work, strengthen MGS engagement, and manage concerns with advice and action from in-country Coverage, credit offices etc.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree holder. Degree in business, commerce or law and CFA qualification will be an advantage.
5 - 8 years’ experience in corporate and institutional lending, with solid experience in credit analysis and/or credit risk management functions in reputable financial institutions.
Candidates from credit rating agencies, advisory houses, investment management firms, chartered accounting firms, or corporate treasury teams are welcome.
Deep technical background and transaction experience.
Strong financial knowledge and analysis acumen, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Ability to undertake credit writing, financial analysis and modelling, legal documentation, and debt structuring at a high standard.
Understanding of financial and economic markets.
Ability to engage in independent research and analysis of customers and markets.
Strong leadership and people management experience with proven interpersonal and presentation skills.
Team player mentality.
Self-starter attitude with initiative, drive, enthusiasm, and curiosity.
