Vice President, Education

OverDrive is seeking a dynamic K-12 Education expert to lead the go-to-market (GTM) strategy and sales for our evolving digital book, media, reading, and learning products. Working with leaders across the company, the VP, Education will lead OverDrive’s efforts to drive broad adoption and success for school districts, educators, and students through our award-winning Sora app and growing catalog of digital reading, curriculum, literacy, and learning content offerings. 

The VP, Education will have a demonstrated track record of growth and success directing, managing, and selling content-based solutions to national, state, regional and municipal school district buyers of learning content and related services. They will lead a team of leaders, account executives and account managers, and school librarians. Included with this leadership role is growing the company’s partnerships with key districts, curriculum and edtech vendors to provide meaningful reading and academic solutions based on the company’s content and related services.

Requirements:

Working closely with OverDrive’s CEO and the Executive Team, develop and execute a comprehensive GTM playbook to position OverDrive as the leading provider of digital content to K-12 schools.Define growth opportunities, and collaborate with Product, Content, and Marketing teams to develop pricing, messaging, and partner engagement strategies. Maintain market intelligence on competitors and trends; develop strategies and tactical plans to ensure the team’s success; recommend product features, content offerings, and enhancements based on market needs and opportunities.Become a trusted partner to OverDrive’s established customers and partners. Build deep and lasting relationships with executive leaders, educational leaders, school districts, , and potential partners.Build, develop and manage the OverDrive K-12-facing teams. Work with the CFO and the Business Operations and Analytics team to set growth targets and quotas to achieve sales and service goals. Recommend and implement leadership, training, and support for the team to be successful.Identify, prioritize, and help drive market strategic partnerships, integrations, and product enhancements to achieve growth and adoption in the market with LMS, SIS, and other K-12 platforms and services.Lead and support the sales activities to prospect, pitch and close complex or key deals.Ensure accurate and timely reporting of sales pipeline; forecast revenue growth by analyzing key metrics and proactively respond to market conditions and trends.Function as both a leader and doer, providing leadership and insights, supporting strategic objectives, as well as being a hands-on member of the team. Prioritize and implement high-impact accounts. Engage in regular communication with the CEO to establish, refine, and execute key strategic priorities.Support and collaborate with Executive Team and other leaders across the company, to harmonize efforts that support revenue, maximize product adoption, and balance OverDrive resource allocation.As a member of the leadership team, demonstrate through decisions, actions and words a commitment to OverDrive’s mission and our sustainability and community outreach initiatives. 

Responsibilities:

10+ years of leadership experience in K-12 education technology, curriculum, or digital content industries.•Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets in a quota-driven environment.Deep knowledge of education technology and digital content solutions for US classrooms.Exceptional communication, consultative sales, and negotiation skills.Skilled in building and motivating teams, with 10+ years of management experience leading cross-functional teams.Analytical and strategic thinker with experience forecasting revenue and planning budgets.Passion for education and commitment to OverDrive’s mission and values.
