Job Purpose/Background:
This is a new role that will advise on a wide range of corporate legal and governance issues, with a particular focus on the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East & Africa), and serve as an important liaison to the U.S.-based corporate legal team. The attorney in this role will report to the Corporate Secretary of BlackRock, Inc., who is based at the company’s headquarters in New York, and will work closely with colleagues in corporate legal roles in the EMEA region and the United States.
This position is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated attorney to be part of a small, dynamic Corporate Legal team handling a wide range of general corporate, governance, sustainability, public reporting, philanthropic and financing matters for the world's largest asset manager. In this role, you will be called upon to advise on corporate governance matters, strategic and intercompany transactions, and regulatory reporting requirements, and will be responsible for managing key aspects of the company’s corporate subsidiaries.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy, excel at working on a team and across functions and be open and flexible when it comes to new responsibilities as BlackRock continues to innovate and expand its business and operating model.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Corporate Secretary and Legal and Compliance colleagues in supporting the Corporate Treasury, Finance, Tax, Corporate Development, Social Impact, Investment Stewardship and Accounting teams, particularly with respect to matters in the EMEA region.In collaboration with the EMEA General Counsel, members of the EMEA Legal and Compliance and Board Governance teams, provide strategic governance insights for our regional operating entities, including with respect to the scope of Board meeting agendas and oversight responsibilities for Boards in EMEA.Oversee the EMEA aspects and processes relating to quarterly repatriations. Oversee EMEA corporate aspects of strategic transaction execution and integration efforts in collaboration with the Legal transactions and corporate development teams.Advise on key corporate legal aspects of new office openings, entity creation and subsidiary restructurings in EMEA and other jurisdictions, including the Cayman and British Virgin Islands.In collaboration with a Corporate Legal team colleague based in Budapest, Hungary:Coordinate and liaise with global corporate secretarial colleagues to maintain accurate legal entity information for public reporting and regulatory purposesRespond to client business and diligence inquiries relating to subsidiaries and corporate structure for U.S. and EMEA based entities.Collaborate with the thresholds legal team to ensure accurate corporate regulatory reporting.Proactively identify, address and manage legal risk issues arising with corporate law matters within the EMEA region.Liaise as necessary with external counsel, particularly in jurisdictions outside the UK.Other Responsibilities:
Develop and actively manage relationships with key internal stakeholders and external advisers.Conduct training and education sessions where relevant for legal and non-legal members of BlackRock.Knowledge/Experience:
Solicitor / Lawyer qualified in England and Wales or other relevant jurisdiction(s).Strong academic record.Comprehensive relevant corporate law experience (gained either in private practice or on an in-house legal team).Competencies:

Our hybrid work model
