Vice President, Engineering & Product Management

What you will do                

Reporting to the President of BrassCraft, the Vice President, Engineering & Product Management you will be responsible for leading the new and existing product strategy, innovation and program management to deliver on both BrassCraft’s strategic and financial goals for driving product development from idea, through procurement, and to execution. In this pivotal role, you will lead the daily management of the product lifecycle, engineering, product & program management, and quality assurance. You will lead a team, collaborate closely with all internal teams, and provide direction to ensure the execution of our product roadmap, increase our competitive market position, drive business growth, reduce risk, and improve product quality and on-time delivery.

How you will do it

Product Strategy and Roadmap:

Collaborate with Category Management on development of comprehensive product strategy and roadmap that is aligned with BrassCraft’s business goals and customer needs.

Lead in implementation of product strategy to meet business objectives based on defined goals.

Using data from market trends, customer insights, and competitive intelligence, partner with vendors to identify capabilities to support product innovation, prioritize key features, and deliver market differentiation to drive maximum value to our customers.

Provide clear and concise communication to both technical and non-technical teams, ensuring a shared understanding of product goals and priorities.

Engage with strategic customers as a thought leader in the industry related to consumer trends, innovation, and product selection strategies.

Create and maintain alignment of functional leaders, senior management, and external partners to drive results.

Team Leadership and Development:

Lead and direct a high performing and motivated professional staff responsible for interfacing with functional/business unit management and external partners encouraging a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement.

Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to the team, promoting their professional growth and development.

Recruit and / or retain top talent who are enthusiastic about consumer-centric product development and can drive exceptional results.

Identify metrics, tools, and processes to optimize sourcing and supplier activities and efficiencies and work collaboratively with team members to prioritize and drive implementation.

Product Development and Execution:

Be responsible for the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from conceptualization to launch and ongoing optimization.

Work with internal departments including Sales, Marketing, and Operations to gather and interpret business requirements to ensure successful product design, quality, and delivery.

Use data-driven insights, user feedback, and market research to inform product decisions and iterate on features and experiences.

Product Performance and Analytics:

Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure product success and guide data-driven decision-making.

Analyze product performance data, user behavior, and market trends to seize opportunities for optimization and growth.

Collaborate with the growth & analytics team to implement tracking and reporting mechanisms to monitor product performance and gather actionable insights.

Identify and implement continuous improvement projects that provide efficiencies in sourcing and product cost.

What we look for

Education & Experience:

BA/BS or equivalent work experience, Engineering/Technical degree and MBA a plus

15+ years’ experience in a product leadership role with multi-category management in product development.

Experience within the home improvement industry within a consumer or customer-facing business.

Demonstrated success in launching leading, consumer-preferred products and driving measurable business growth.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Strategic problem solver with ability to drive execution throughout the product organization.

Highly adept at team building and collaboration, forging relationships and working effectively across functions.

Strong organizational and project management skills with an ability to manage and prioritize multiple, concurrent projects to meet ambitious deadlines.

Proven track record of identifying and taking advantage of industry trends in a timely manner.

Excellent analytical, excel and PC skills. Demonstrated ability to drive analysis and insights into action.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrated successful ability to build positive partnerships, while working collaboratively with cross functional business teams.
