Vice President, FI Credit & Portfolio Management

Join MUFG, where being inspired is expected and making a meaningful impact is rewarded. **About the role:** The Financial Institutions (FI) business plays a central role in achieving MUFG’s growth aspirations, including driving material revenue and profitability growth through selective origination and execution of Fund Finance, Securitisation and Diversified NBFI transactions. The continued growth of the FI sector combined with complex stakeholder management working across product teams and multiple credit divisions, highlights the importance of a FI Portfolio team with sufficient bench strength and technical experience. The Vice President role in the team is focused on maintaining the high-quality portfolio management of the book, in addition to leading refinancing and complex activity alongside the Coverage team. This role supports FI’s objective of (a) ensuring high quality analysis and monitoring of credits continue post origination; with (b) Borrowers’ financial performance, outlook and credit profile assessed and monitored accurately, consistently and in a timely manner – to help identify emerging risks, themes and opportunities which may warrant additional attention / action by key stakeholders – ultimately to drive better risk and return outcomes for the Bank. **What you’ll be doing:** + **Strategy & Focus:** support the ongoing growth and portfolio management of FI customers across Australia and NZ. + **Customer Acquisition:** support FI portfolio construction to ensure we bank the right clients and sectors as part of our local, regional and global growth plans. Provide insights for revenue and profit generation and balance sheet optimization, limiting losses where appropriate. + **Management Overlay:** share insights from the broader FI sector, growth of the FI business locally, acting as 2IC to the FI Portfolio Director will be expected. + **Financial:** as a key team member, your leadership in driving FI credit and customer outcomes will have a clear financial impact. You will be asked to step up and drive these outcomes, including coaching and leadership of the team below you, across all FI streams. + **Collaboration:** develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the region (Portfolio and Coverage team members, ICD and SFCO, product teams). + **Teamwork:** collaborate with a range of staff members across the business both locally and regionally, and at all times demonstrate a proactive and positive approach. + **Risk:** trust and faith from our risk representatives is crucial. + **Oceania:** a Vice President is one of the senior members of the Oceania Portfolio team and is expected to demonstrate this leadership through guidance/mentorship of junior team members, along with participation and leading training and team meetings. + **Credit Management:** the focus of the Vice President role is as follows: + Ensure quality of submissions is maintained at a high level. + Deal lead for origination and refinancing activity. + Project work (such as research into new sub-sectors) as requested. + Support the FI Portfolio Director in driving the change agenda and MGS engagement. + Help identify, monitor and manage concerns as they arise, including seeking advice and/or action from in-country FI Coverage, ICD, SFCO, etc. **What we are looking for:** The ideal candidate should have: + Extensive experience in corporate and institutional lending, ideally with a period of direct FI sector experience. + Deep technical background and FI transaction experience. Fund Finance background will be looked upon favourably. + Strong mathematical knowledge, strong financial analysis acumen, proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel. + Ability to undertake (a) credit writing; (b) financial analysis and modelling; and (c) legal documentation and debt structuring at a high standard. + Possess an understanding of financial and economic markets in general. + Be able to engage in independent research & analysis of customers and markets and apply critical thinking and a high level of attention to detail. + The ability to communicate clearly both in writing and verbally. In addition to the technical experience and expertise, we are looking for someone who has strong interpersonal and presentation skills, is a team player and a self-starter who applies initiative and has drive, enthusiasm and curiosity. An analytical mindset and problem-solving skills are essential, as well as the ability to work independently and prioritise tasks across various work streams and stakeholders. Candidates from credit rating agencies, advisory houses, investment management firms, chartered accounting firms or corporate treasury teams may also be considered. Business / Commerce / Law Degree from a leading university is essential and a Masters of Finance, MBA or CFA will be considered favourably.
