The Vancouver Fraser PortAuthority is an arm’s-length federal agency responsible for the sharedstewardship of the lands and waters that make up the Port of Vancouver,Canada’s largest port. Our mandate, as outlined in the_ Canada Marine Act (https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/c-6.7/) _,is to enable Canada’s trade objectives on behalf of all Canadians, ensuringgoods are moved safely through the Port of Vancouver, while protecting theenvironment and considering local communities._
A pivotal and transformative role exists at one of
Canada’s most crucial, economic enablers. The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority
is seeking a new Vice President, Government Relations and External Affairs, who
will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction on all
government, First Nations programs and external affairs activities. This
position will play a key role in the strategic planning process by enhancing
and protecting the image and reputation of the port authority with all levels of
government and First Nations partners, industry, media and the public.
To lead this
portfolio in a manner that supports the port authority’s strategic goals, the **VicePresident, Government Relations and External Affairs** (“vice president”) will
be a forthright and transparent leader who values collaboration. Possessing excellent communication and public
speaking skills to effectively interface with all contacts including all levels
of business, government and the public, the vice president will represent the port
authority as a dynamic organization prepared to seize opportunities as a
world-class port. They will bring a
best-in-class customer service orientation while managing a diverse portfolio. The
vice president will also demonstrate effective decision-making and strategic
planning, while fostering the development of these competencies in the port authority’s
emerging leaders.
