The Vice President, LAC Regional Marketing position is part of the Global Network Services (GNS) business within the Global Merchant & Network Services business group. The GNS business drives scale and relevance for the enterprise by bringing on and managing financial institutions that issue and/or acquire on the American Express network. The business manages American Express’s presence in over 110 countries and territories through over 240 financial institution partners and is a driver of innovation for the company through the products and services it regularly introduces to the Network.

Through the GNS partnerships we can offer exciting and innovative products and benefits in GNS countries, improving merchant coverage, strengthening the value proposition, and amplifying the American Express brand.

The Vice President, LAC Regional Marketing sits within the GNS Product, Marketing and Global Businesses (PMGB) team and plays a critical role in the team responsible for leading all partner-facing, local marketing in Latin America and the Caribbean. Reporting directly to the General Manager and Vice President, GNS Product, Marketing & Global Businesses, this dynamic leader will set the strategic direction for the LAC Regional Marketing team. They will be responsible for developing marketing plans and scaling benefits offerings and member experiences to both deepen and expand relationships with existing and prospective GNS partners.  This VP will serve as a core member of the GNS Product, Marketing & Global Businesses global leadership team and as an extended member of the GNS LAC Regional Business Development leadership team.

 

The GNS Product, Marketing and Global Businesses (PMGB) team is a dynamic global marketing organisation with responsibility to deliver:

Product & Product Marketing: competitive product strategy and product & campaign delivery in GNS countries Partner & Customer Experience: infrastructure for value add and compliant experiences Brand Management: Protect and engage Amex Brand; increase Amex and GNS Brand awareness in GNS countries Global Businesses: Grow the GNS Supply Chain Solutions B2B business

How will you make an impact in this role?

 

Create and implement strategic marketing plans to deliver against coverage, billings, Cards-in-Force and New Cards Acquired, revenue, and PTI goals for the GNS business in Latin America and the Caribbean, working closely with the LAC Business Development team Serve as the Amex marketing and product expert for all partners in the LAC region, influencing and providing advice and support for key activities, such as new product development, product refreshes, local benefit activation, perception of coverage campaigns and end-customer experiences Provide specialized support for critical negotiations and deals, acting as the lead partner for the General Manager of the GNS LAC regional business  Collaborate with the PMGB central team on market-specific product co-creation, partnership strategies that leverage and scale existing GNS benefits and experiences as well as Blue Box brand assets Articulate the business case for, negotiate, and manage partnerships that deliver local, GNS-specific offerings, such as concierge service providers and airport operators responsible for local GNS lounges Inspire and lead a team of skilled marketing professionals to develop and deliver solutions and offerings that meet the needs of GNS partners while simultaneously driving value for American Express Partner with GNS Analytics teams to develop relevant reporting and tools to identify and optimise product and marketing opportunities both across LAC and within key countries Manage and measure investment effectiveness, balancing support for key partner initiatives with campaigns, experiences, and sponsorships that accelerate growth for GNS Co-own and evolve the GNS Marketing Standard Operating Procedures in collaboration with other GNS Regional Marketing leads, ensuring all GNS activities are aligned to the company’s strategic objectives and control management framework

 

Minimum Qualifications:

·       10+ years’ experience in marketing or product roles, developing customer and prospect marketing expertise across multiple channels within the LAC region

·       Deep knowledge of the payments industry, including the external competitive landscape and local market trends

·       Excellent influencing, negotiation, and partner management skills necessary to build strong, trusted relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners

·       Outstanding matrix management skills, with the ability to mobilize, drive and direct resources across the organization without direct reporting lines.

·       Superb strategic and critical thinker, able to convert strategy into clear, actionable tactics and bring initiatives to successful closure

·       Exceptional communication/storytelling skills and ability to create and deliver persuasive high impact presentations to a variety of internal and external constituents

·       Proven success ideating and bringing to life creative concepts, experiences, and sponsorships that drive customer engagement and business growth

·       Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop strong talent while building inclusive, diverse teams

·       Strong financial and commercial acumen and a risk-based mindset

·       Native Brazilian speaker; Fluency in Spanish and English (written and verbal)

·       Ability to travel up to 40% of the time

·       Expertise managing strategic partnerships, with demonstrated ability to effectively manage external partners a plus

·       Experience leading teams of marketers across diverse and complex geographies, with a significant degree of cultural sensitivity and awareness

·       Demonstrated resilience and ability to operate well in ambiguity, creating clarity during times of change

·       Proven creative problem-solving skills and principle-driven decision making

·       Highly analytical and numerical, with an ability to clearly communicate complex issues.
