Job Description Summary:
The Vice President of Operations is responsible for the overall management, strategic direction, and financial success of Draper’s multi-site manufacturing operations. The VP will partner with the Program Offices, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other functions to deliver on business commitments and strategically position Draper for the future while overseeing the manufacturing operations of microelectronics, precision instrumentation, and avionics for mission needs.Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and oversee the execution of an operations strategy that accelerates mission impact and growth of the business.
Provide processes, controls, technical expertise, design authority and oversight to facilitate excellence within the operations function.
Manage and execute production facility activities and flow of product to meet production requirements and objectives to ensure effective and on time delivery of product.
Manage operations to ensure minimal production cost and optimal product quality, ensure timely resolution of issues.
Drive a lean mindset to continuously improve business processes, controls, and systems to ensure efficiency, performance, and compliance.
Ensure timely resolution of issues and failures to optimize production process by driving down defects, rework, and scrap to ensure profitable operations.
Oversees the planning required to meet product demand by consolidating needs, redistributing space, equipment, technology capability and labor as required.
Work with Business Areas to support the growth of the production pipeline.
Grow and develop diverse talent pipeline ensuring appropriate talent selection, organization, and leadership for the operations organization.
Skills/Abilities
Deep understanding of production workflows, machinery, and lean manufacturing principles.
Expertise utilizing “lean” principles and a track record of success in developing significant improvements in cost management, inventory management, quality, and delivery.
Experience and understanding of ISO9000 quality certification.
Experience and understanding of AS9100D quality certification.
Ability to lead operations and manufacturing efforts in a DOD contracting environment
Knowledge of ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulation) and EAR (Export Administration Regulation)
Comprehensive understanding of subcontractor solicitations and bid analysis/process
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management, Business, Engineering or related field required. MBA desired.
Experience
Requires substantial experience leading a large team, preferably with relevance to one or more of Draper's existing business areas and core technical competencies.
Requires experience in mixed volume manufacturing in multi-site locations.
Requires experience in Defense industry.
Prefer 20+ years in Aerospace & Defense industry involving production
Lean Six Sigma Certification (Green or Black belt) desired.
Established relationship with Department of Defense and Intelligence Community desired.
Additional Job Description:
Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
Current in scope Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility and ability to obtain Special Program Accesses is required.
